It's That Time...

Okay, I'm a little late to the fight this year. But I'm here, ready to rumble.

My blog buddy Suldog is the leader of this fight, at least in my view. There are, no doubt, others.

We need to step back, give thanks for what we have. Then maybe worry about the next holiday.

I'm seeing so many Christmas ads now that I just want to shut the damn TV off and not watch it again until next year. Or maybe not at all. Ever.

We've abandoned that which made us great and exceptional, that's right oBummer, I said "Exceptional". We used to be, many of us still are. It's just you and your fellow travelers who suck all the joy from existence.

Now it's all about money. Bah. Humbug. Praise the Lord and pass the turkey and gravy.

Happy Thanksgiving!

When the tail end of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade passes by, then put your tree up.

But don't say "Happy Holidays" around me.

Say "Happy Hanukkah", say "Merry Christmas", or say nothing at all, keep your secular crap away from me. I ain't buying!

Amen.

Here's my offering from last year and Suldog's latest on the topic.

Keep up the good fight.

I for one will not go gently...

  3. Shop on Thanksgiving? Far too much food to eat to busy myself with shopping. In all seriousness, all these companies disgust me. While they could be seen as just catering to what their customers want, it just shows that profit is more important than anything and they only care about profit. While their commercials all show these warm family values, they are just being hypocrites. If they did care, they'd allow their employees time time off with their families.

  4. I'm always amused by those that think by forcing the use of "Happy Holiday's" they are getting the "Christ" out of Christmas in that the term "Holiday" is simply an abridged way of saying "Holy Day." so the religious element is still in there. But I guess in order to realize that little fact one would have to have at least a nodding acquaintance with history and the history of religion, lol.
