Memorial Day Weekend

The older I get, the more I look behind me and the less I look to the future.

I suppose that's natural, the road behind me is a lot longer than the road ahead. But that's alright. I have very few regrets.

Memorial Day weekend. Three days away from work. It's nice. A whole lot of really good folks paid for this weekend. For me. For you.

Some of them I knew. Most of them I did not. But I served with men and women just like them.

I believe they would want us to go out and enjoy ourselves. Have a cookout, have a beer (or two) and generally savor life. If they could, they would be right there beside us. Watching the ball game, flipping that steak on the grill, opening another beer, perhaps sharing a secret smile with someone special.

But they can't.

All we can do is remember them, perhaps pause, tip your drink to the sky and just say "Thanks." They would do the same for us.

So enjoy yourselves this weekend. Have a great time. Live your life to the fullest.

They would.

If they could...

Just be polite... that's all I ask. (For Buck)
Can't be nice, go somewhere else...
