I've been reading about Omaha Beach probably since I was old enough to read. A man such as Omar Bradley (a fellow not given to panic and flights of fancy) considered pulling those landed back off of Omaha because it was going so badly.

The sea ran red with the blood of the fallen. Nothing can, or ever will, soften the horror those men experienced that day. Only the ignorant can even think that.

(Thanks for the link Snuffy.)OldAFSargehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15935839956936191547noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7684531976778247960.post-1040103866737763902016-06-06T10:18:04.662-07:002016-06-06T10:18:04.662-07:00After having walked the beaches at Normandy, I fin...After having walked the beaches at Normandy, I find that anything I might say to be superfluous.
http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/1960/11/first-wave-at-omaha-beach/303365/snuffynyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12843569994073955970noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7684531976778247960.post-1932418242632405462016-06-06T09:54:13.633-07:002016-06-06T09:54:13.633-07:00Yup, hard to believe.Yup, hard to believe.OldAFSargehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15935839956936191547noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7684531976778247960.post-67045003790749157702016-06-06T09:21:05.365-07:002016-06-06T09:21:05.365-07:00"The youngest man participating in the D-Day ..."The youngest man participating in the D-Day invasion would be 89 years old today."
h/t The Boadsice(not necessarily your) Uncle Skiphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02705753220273516841noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7684531976778247960.post-73190253161268079872016-06-06T06:47:05.527-07:002016-06-06T06:47:05.527-07:00Thanks Shaun.
