Even on a cool d...Absolutely worried about puking! Even on a cool day, putting the canopy down in the F-4 would put the temp in the 80s minimum. Add in the excitement/nervousness....They all had barf bags, and lots of them. The best place was in the WSO's radar scope. It had a rubber shield around it, so the WSO could see the radar without being blinded by the sun. Never knew a WSO that used it. But putting a plastic bag in there did two things. It was right in his field of vision, so if he did lose it, he knew where the bag was. Second, if he did lose it and LOST it, the scope was protected somewhat. <br /><br />Not sure I'd have had the Nads to be a door gunner on a Huey. My neighbor, Vietnam Vet - was a mechanic for the UH-1 'Huey" helicopter. He worked all day fixing those birds. Probably a .51 cal. he turned white and sobered up really quick.
