Someone Got Some 'Splainin' To Do

(Source)
So I take a couple of days off, next thing you know there's ranting and raving going on here at The Chant, the liquor cabinet has been emptied, there's trash everywhere, and there's apparently a dead skunk in the men's head. At least that's what it smells like.

What the heck have y'all been up to?

Seriously though, I'm enjoying this light blogging schedule. I would have posted something longer for today (as I have a rant building up) but as Monday was the birthday of The Missus Herself and I took the love of my life out to dinner, I had no time for writing.

Not to mention that immediately after work I needed to get my lug nuts retorqued. (Sounds kind of risqué doesn't it?). I had purchased four new tires on Friday for Big Girl. Seems if you've got mag wheels and a car with 100,000 miles plus on the odometer, this is a recommended thing.

Yeah, Monday was busy. Did I mention I had to work Monday as well? Yes, and though everything was broken, we were able to make progress.

Odd how that works some times.

Anyhoo, back to your regularly scheduled programming. As for juvat, Beans, Tuna, and Lush...

Carry on...

  1. High here yesterday was 86F and Hooomid! My hometown Up North hit 64F while at the Falls it hit 54, that cold front only moved so far. Today's high 55F....... back to Fall. Looking good (rainwise) for Rimfire Friday and a belated Happy Birthday to The Missus Herself!

    1. We're moving towards fall. Highs now tend to be mid-70s, lows at night in the 50s, dipping to the 40s inland.

      My kind of weather!

  2. Careful not to overtorque your nuts, you could bust off a stud.

Also, I drive past this billboard a couple times a week:

    1. And that would be painful.

      (Love the billboard.)

  3. Welcome back, Sarge. My condolences on the lost of the beloved kitty. We are facing that at some point with our 23 yo Siamese. The gift of pets is such a wonderful thing, but their loss can be really hard.
I have also been away (not that it matters other than to me), made a quick trip to Round Rock, TX, to load up a 26' Penske truck in 95+ degree heat, drive it back to NC in 2-1/2 days, then unload it in 90+ degree heat plus lots of 'humdidity'. Lost lots of 'water weight' on the loading and unloading. Appreciate how the cowboys starting their journey on the Chisholm Trail from that round rock in the middle of Brushy Creek must have felt in those pre-AC days. Both the rock and the creek are still there, although the rock is a lot smaller than it used to be - as what has been termed a universal solvent, water erodes things. Anyway, thought it might be cooler in NC, but Noooo! Record high temps being broken the last few and next few days. Plus there was a BIG conflagration down at the beach - seven nice 4 story homes burned to cinders at Surf City, with the propane tank explosion being particularly spectacular. OK, I'll stop rambling - hope y'all have a nice rest of the week.

    1. As the weather starts to turn crisp and cool here, it's tough to read of 90+ with oodles of humidity.

I think we're past that now. Glad you survived that evolution.

  4. Looks like the staff cabins at every camp I worked at.

  5. First thought that popped into my head reading this post was the theme certainly applies to the all shenanigans by the left. Busted nuts and knuckles? Sign me up.

  6. Loving the cooler nights ...mid to high forties ...and temperate days ...70s to 80.
It could stay like this and suit me fine.
Finding a rant isn’t really all that difficult.
The local pols give us plenty of bait every day.
It’s a bigger challenge to find some to cheer about.
Sometimes it’s just the weather, eh?

Material for a rant? Like you say, it's a target rich environment these days.

  7. Since I don't drink, I can blame it on the prop-heads, the liquor cabinet being emptied, that is.

As to the rest of it? I'm innocent, innocent I tell you. I didn't do a thing, not one thing. Didn't touch anything, didn't move anything, didn't see anything, didn't smell anything, I didn't breathe their air. Nosirree. Uh-huh. Yup.

Okay, I ranted. And since I had Amer-Mex for dinner, I probably did drop a skunk or two, but that's normal so you can't blame me. YOU left the door to the cabin open...

    It's all YOUR fault!

Other than that, say HB to the TH for me, well, for us. Glad Big Girl had her nuts felt properly. Glad you managed both and a full day's work besides.

Brain feeling better after taking some time off of heavy posts?

    1. Check out juvat, very nice, "What liquor cabinet?" Him being a flyer and all...

Brain is better, and yes, I did leave the door open.

  8. WAIT!!!! There's a Liquor Cabinet? Why wasn't I told about this? And if it's empty, it can only be LUSH (which might explain things).

    1. Have you asked Virgil if HE knows about the liquor cabinet? (Betcha he does.)

I tell ya, you zipper-suited sun gods and goddesses seldom have trouble finding the booze. But yeah, could be LUSH.

  9. Thank The Missus Herself for sharing her BD with me. I 'specs it's the other way around.
I didn't see anything out of place in the picture, except maybe, the yellow chair. It clashes.

    1. Kinda looks like a JO stateroom on a Sprucan. My son's stateroom back in the aughts is the example I had in mind.

And yeah, who brought that chair in?

  10. That intro photo looks like a Drill Instructor found his way into a Boy Scout camp and found someone's rack not made! Someone noticed fall is upon us. Great season imho. I'm not the only one to think so: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3th3GIImw-8

I do enjoy fall, and that guy is hysterical, "America's Next Top Season," love it!

  11. Well, Sarge, you didn't include "the toilet seat is up, and the cat's pregnant", so we know that no sailors were responsible for the debacle!

    2. Take your time. I've been busy (especially today--my tomcat died this morning, & I don't mean that my F-14 is a hangar queen).
It's OK, he had a good & malevolent life.

  12. Couple of days late to this particular party. Speaking of sailors, if it has to be done, yet probably shouldn't be done, you know a sailor is gonna go ahead and do it. https://youtu.be/U4qIJkKy-00
