Recycling, It's Good for You

Yup, rather than scrap my old posts, I recycle them from time to time.

I hope you all saw through my pathetic attempt to make the old seem new again.

In what follows much remains the same, but the restaurant we dined in just four short years ago is now but a memory. As is the shrubbery to Kodi's right in the second picture. Something killed it, now it too is long gone.

I guess it's true, nothing lasts forever...

Gone to the Dogs

Bear Patrols the Fence Line
Kodi On Overwatch

Hope you all had a great holiday, mine was awesome and continues. This is just a short post to let you all know I survived.

Ate far too much food.

Watched far too much football.

Had far too much fun with my granddaughters.

But I built up my strength the night before Thanksgiving.

Guinness at the Atlantic Beach Club, the eve of Thanksgiving. One of two with the meal. Had an Irish coffee for courage afterwards.

I was ready for anything.

Seeing a lot of spam coming in over the transom lately. I reckon that always follows when you open up the comments. Most, so far, are très amusant, though très ennuyeux. I'll share a couple of those this weekend, probably, POCIR.

Odd thing though, all the spam is coming in on older posts. Older posts about tanks and the Army. Perhaps they're friends of XBradTC?

Nah, he speaks English (quite well, I must say), the spammers obviously cannot.

More, later.

(BTW, Bear and Kodi are two of my granddogs.)

  1. Perhaps a direct descendant of the dining place will be called, "Son of a Beach Club."

We had a very nice dinner with phamily and phriends in Philly and we are planning a very long walk today in the false hope that we will burn enough calories to offset yesterday's excess.

    1. Travel to the North, Thanksgiving Day repast, travel back south, mission complete. Now a nice weekend to recover before it's back to work on Monday.

It has been a very nice vacation.

  2. With another round of snow-letting expected tonight/tomorrow the resulting snow shoveling can help remove some of yesterday's excess. A death in the garden just opens an opportunity to try, try again. Gardening is survival of the stubborn sometimes.

    1. Snow is forecast for where we were, not where we are. So we've got that going for us.

As to gardening, there is no quit in The Missus Herself.

  3. Hey AFSarge;

I see that we both survived Thanksgiving, LOL and I got hit hard by spammers a few weeks ago, had 1000 spam post on my older posts for several days in a row. I had to enable "verification".

    1. The spambots seem to like my older posts. When I see them I turn commenting off on those older posts. Everything older than seven days goes to moderation, which seems to handle things well.

  4. Fooled me! I was hoping for some good pointers on handling scrap!

Keep on enjoying the holiday Sarge!

    1. That's right, you have scrap to move. Probably where I got the idea! 😉

  5. Glad you survived Thanksgiving, Sarge. Wonder if John in Philly or any other commenters have ever been to the traditional colonial Thanksgiving dinner at the City Tavern? I took my sons there one year when the youngest was in college, it was really good, including traditional cocktails. https://www.citytavern.com/holiday-celebrations/

This year I went away from tradition. Had a steak at a nice steak place while most everyone else had turkey, dressing, etc. everyone left full and happy.

Glad to see Trump going to see the troops in Afghanistan. The logistics of such a trip must be pretty substantial. So a good week for the military and the President - pardons fallout, Conan at the White House, and then the trip to 'Stan. Again, I am thankful for all who serve and for this President.

    1. Love the way President Trump trolled the media over the Afghan trip. There was even a report that he took the weekend off and went to Mar-a-Lago for Thanksgiving and golfing. Including pictures of the motorcade, which looked like any other motorcade...

      Epic Troll Skills...

And don't forget freaking out Mexico over saying he'll be declaring Cartels as terrorist organizations.

    2. Tom - I also saw that the VP went to Iraq for dinner with the troops. Couple of good men right there.

I noticed on T-Day that not a peep of that was mentioned on the Meejah. Lot's of Bernie and Bloomberg ads though. Almost lost my dinner over that streamlined pack of lies.

    3. Beans - The Prez seems to be an adroit tactician. Love watching the progtards moan over his antics.

  6. We are constantly reminded we can't go back, we can't ever return to the home that once was.

All we can do is remember the good times, and make new memories.

    1. Actually, I can go home to visit. It's different, but it's still there. Something I am very thankful for.

  7. The day came and went with much food and drink. This was the first time in probably twenty or more years that I didn’t have to cook. Yaaay! Grandson and I played “Madden 2019” football. Almost too realistic. I tried to get him to bet on some plays, but he wouldn’t, he said he’s saving for a car because there aren’t any more family cars moving down the chain of ownership. I gave oldest grandson my 1995. Toyota pickup when we moved to FL five years ago. I never thought he’d turn 16 and start driving it! Now we have to rent a car when we visit. The truck (“Blue Lightning”) has 270,000+ miles on it and only one or two small dings. We all love it.

They did get out and play some “golf” on the 19th hole (about fifty yards). Things are pretty wet and gonna get wetter. We actually had hail yesterday afternoon for about 15 minutes. Weird. But that’s Santa Cruz Mountains for ya. Couldn’t get any bocce in as it was too cold for us - in the 40s. Can’t get the blogger to recognize me as Davesdaily, etc.

Hope everyone has a great thankful weekend. We are especially thankful that Miss Jeanie’s hair is coming back in, she has a real five o’clock shadow ;-)

Great that Miss Jeanie is getting better, prayers continue for full recovery!
