I will try to post while I'm out there. Whether it's fiction or musings, I'll try.
Long days perhaps, but it's all good.
Doing my duty, the best way I know how.
I took my oath seriously.
Might not wear a uniform anymore, but I do this for the folks who still do.
Be seeing you.
Vaya con Dios.

DeletePretty good April Fools Joke you pulled there, Sarge. Your "Meanderings" post lead me to believe you were already in San Diego. But...Safe Travels and do good things.
ReplyDeleteWasn't intentional, I think my Muse was being "clever." 🙄
DeleteSarge, safest of travels. I hope all goes well, you accomplish what you need to do, and can see your family. If it works out, say hi to Tuna for the res of us.
ReplyDeleteRoger that!
DeleteYeah Sarge, do that!

Delete"Might not wear a uniform anymore, but I do this for the folks who still do."
ReplyDeleteThat means a lot to me.
The unwritten motto of the Philly Shipyard's civilian workers was to do the best job for those sailors who would depend on what we did to stay safe at sea, or to go into harm's way.
And it was a point of pride that we did that even knowing that when the Kennedy sailed down the Delaware river, we would all be laid off.
Yup, it's a point of pride with the good ones.
DeleteIs the pilot name "Corrigan" on that one?
ReplyDeleteIt's not a Navy thing, but USAF TAC, I think, but "We fly and fight, or support those who do" is pretty good summary of the teamwork involved. That includes both uniformed personnel and most civilians on the team, be they DOD employees or contractors.
John Blackshoe
That's the right way to do it.
DeleteMe: meanwhile, will send another instalment of Ewok Report tomorrow
ReplyDeleteAnd in small measure I support our (alliance) military too, many officers from NATO North-East Corps HQ do shopping in my supermarket.
Looking forward to it!
DeleteSafe travels and fair winds. Don't work too hard.
ReplyDeleteI believe in working smart, not necessarily hard. 😁
Delete(Don McCollor)...There is the story in WW2 when the submarine USS Growler limped painfully back to a port in Australia with her bow twisted at a right angle. there were a few shipyard workers who had built Growler flown there to meet her to coordinate repairs. Two raced up to her bows as soon the gangway was in place, anxiously examining the twisted steel. Then they clapped each other on the back, shouting for joy. Their welds had held...
ReplyDeleteSounds about right.
DeleteOh, and that photo? It's a SSHWFGD from CAG-5, which is the best airwing on the planet.
ReplyDeleteI was hoping you'd notice that.
