'Bout damn time.
Though I like a little freedom from spousal oversight from time to time, having to be on my own becomes wearisome after a few weeks. I mean where would I be without someone reminding me to put the toilet seat down? My argument that gravity does most of that work falls on deaf ears. Personally I like to keep all hatches sealed, make everyone work so to speak. But as The Missus Herself pointed out, a closed hatch gives mold just the environment it desires. So, having had to keep the facilities clean in her absence, I see her point.
For those thinking, "Come on Sarge, you were enlisted, surely you've cleaned a toilet or two in your days," think again. Squad leader in Basic, and in Tech School, my job was to ensure the dorm was clean, to include the head, not actually, you know, doing the cleaning. On Okinawa we had maids and by the time I got to Korea, we lived in apartments with communal facilities of the most primitive type. Not sure how those were "cleaned." And at work we had, again, maids. So toilet cleaning is a fairly new activity on my part.
I think I did a better job of keeping the domicile tidy and clean this time around, but we'll see what The Missus Herself thinks after she gets home. Not today mind you, she'll be jet lagged, but Saturday?
Have mercy on me.
Now that opening photo was taken Wednesday afternoon as I was putting the trash out. After depositing the bins roadside, I was bathed in this unbelievable bright light as I walked up the driveway. Turning to the west, I saw the sky lit up and the clouds painted as you see above. Yes, much more spectacular in person, photos can't seem to capture what nature really looks like.
Speaking of the sunset, a dear friend of mine recently lost her grandmother. As she left work on Wednesday she saw that same sky. She had experienced a similar phenomenon when her grandfather, this grandmother's spouse, had passed. She took it as a sign that they were once again together. I read it the same way.
Nature speaks, we should listen.
Ciao.

Been cleaning the "can" ever since I left home Sarge along with all the other cleaning tasks for the household and no......not wearing a maid's uniform. Domestic harmony will ensue once The Missus Herself returns to base.......:)
ReplyDeleteAh yes, harmony.
DeleteAs that long bit of prose from Robert Heilien said "Specialization is for insects"
ReplyDeleteSunrises and Sunsets reminds me of Psalms 136 (all) but last verse "Give thanks to the God of heaven.
His love endures forever."
Amen.
DeleteIt will be good to be whole again I imagine. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteIndeed, it will. Feels like a piece of me is missing.
DeleteThat is a splendid sunset Sarge. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI have to admit that living in an apartment (currently) makes cleaning a relative breeze. It consumes 30-45 minutes on a Saturday.
Now, the ability store things on the other hand...
Sigh. "The ability to store things...."
DeleteTB #1 - Yes, another plus of an apartment is someone else takes care of the grounds. But yeah, what storage?
DeleteTB #2 - No worries, in many languages that extra word in "the ability to store things" vice "the ability store things" is really kind of superfluous, the brain fills in the missing word automagically.
DeleteGreat photo. A good reminder to take time to enjoy things.

It was an awesome sunset. We tend to get some glorious ones here.
DeleteOoh, you know I'm a sucker for a nice sunset pic. Even better if there's a jet in frame of course, but beggars can't choose.
ReplyDeleteYou talking about having a maid just reinforces the USAF stereotype!
Come'on, he didn't mention anything about the air conditioning being out!
DeleteTuna - Subsets are nice, I usually don't get up early enough for sunrise but I've heard those are nice too.
DeleteThe Air Force is the perfect service, we live like kings (compared to the other services) and we send our officers out to do the fighting. Jealousy is okay, but no one made you join the Navy (Army, Marines, Coast Guard). Hardship for us is staying in a 3 star hotel!
Rob - Air conditioning going out? Now that is just not allowed.
