Dang it, Blogger just ate my comment. I'll try again... Thanks for the link, Sarge. That's a great read. I wasn't there (Nam), so don't fully understand each concept (as he says in #41), but I've seen and heard my brother's nightmares enough to get an inkling of what he's talking about.
I find from time to time that Blogger will eat comments. And that drives me to distraction!
Glad you enjoyed that post, like I mentioned to Suldog, I spend a lot of time over there.
I missed Vietnam by the hair of my chinny-chin-chin (which would be a good topic for a future post) but I had a friend who WAS a helo pilot and would agree with all of those things.
All combat is a nightmare, Vietnam was worse. Give your brother a "thank you" from me. Those who went have still not been sufficiently honored. Honor that they earned!
Those guys were sent over there by the government and were just doing there jobs the best way they knew how. Tactically they kicked ass all of the time. The US government was defeated, not the American soldier/sailor/airman/Marine. FWIW
That was well worth the trip. As I said over there, much of it can be applied to other aspects of life. Thanks for turning me on to it.
ReplyDeleteI spend a lot of time over there. Sometimes neglecting my own blog. As happened yesterday.
DeleteBut if I can share, I will. I'm happy to give those guys another reader, and much of that post can definitely be applied to other aspects of life.
You are most welcome Suldog!
