Michael Collins is a former American astronaut and test pilot. Selected as part of the third group of fourteen astronauts in 1963, he flew into space twice.

Space missions: Gemini 10, Apollo 11
Edwin "Buzz" Eugene Aldrin Jr. is a former American astronaut, and the second person to walk on the Moon. He was the lunar module pilot on Apollo 11, the first manned lunar landing in history.
Born: January 20, 1930, Glen Ridge, NJ
Space missions: Gemini 12, Apollo 11
Neil Alden Armstrong was an American astronaut and the first person to walk on the Moon. He was also an aerospace engineer, naval aviator, test pilot, and university professor.

I still remember watching that grainy B&W footage of the landing. I mentioned before I was in Nippon and watched it on NHK in an after-hours bar.

Back when men were men and the space program was something other than a touchy feely outreach to build the self esteem of some ethnic or religious group.

DeleteWas watching on B&W TV in the lounge of the Columbia Club USAF O-Club on London's Bayswater road (but fronting on a side street) and down the street from the 200+ yr-old "The Swan" pub and hence Lancaster Gate Tube Station) watching @0430 after a night out on the town, iirc....wonder if the Chinese will take down the flag and plant theirs? Any takers?...as in :"Does the sun rise in the east?"

DeleteI was working the midnight trick for a little bohunk police department. They had a small B&W TV in the dispatch room and every road cop was in the place. Shit, the town could have been picked clean while we watched in amazement.

The past was about achieving, doing the impossible and being the best in the world. I'm 71 and I remember that era well.
Today it's all about Liberal, PC, nanny State Bullshit!
