Never Forget

USS Stark, FFG-31, Persian Gulf 1987
Twenty-seven years ago today...

37 American sailors were killed and 21 wounded after an Iraqi aircraft fired two Exocet missiles at the Stark. One missile failed to explode, the other did not.

Some people don't remember these things.

I'm not one of those people.

No one had to ask them, they just knew
They had to go. They leave their homes,
with all its joy, and go to lands afar
They sacrifice their noble life
So that we can all be free

  2. I was on Kitty Hawk after we had completed the transit of the Suez and the next morning found us in full ops off of Gaza when this happened.

Just be polite... that's all I ask. (For Buck)
