2016

Adieu 2015
As I bid farewell to the year 2015, I think back on the good times I had with friends and family over the past twelve months.

Yes, there were bad times (my summer of abdominal pain springs to mind) but the days were mostly good. Good friends, family, felines, canines, good food, good ale, and good whiskey made for a good year.

Blog-wise, there were old carrier birds...

F4U-4s of VMF-323 on USS Sicily(CVE-118) 1951

New carrier birds...

F/A-18Fs of VFA-2 on board USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72), BITD

We saw Juvat jets...

F-4Es over Alaska
F-15Cs over St. Louis

Tuna's jet...

An S-3 "Viking" of VS-21 conducts routine flight operations over the Sea of Japan from USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63).

And of course, numerous examples of "my" jet...

F-4D out of Homestead AFB

We also talked about heroes...

Brigadier General Robin Olds, USAF

A lot really, but not enough, there are never enough heroes to go around.

There were always lots and lots of aircraft...

The F-14D Tomcat, a classic

The last RF-4Cs leaving Zweibrücken AB, Germany 1991
2015 was a great year for the blog, so to all the readers, commenters, lurkers, casual passers by, and (of course) my co-bloggers, I have to say...

Tanks!

(You had to figure I'd work something silly in...)

To all far and wide, we here at the Chant du Départ wish you a Happy, Healthy, and Prosperous 2016.

  4. Yay! Corsairs and Phantoms and Robin Olds and a tank! Only thing missing was more F-105 porn, but I'm not complaining. Happy New Year.

  5. Happy gravity defying New Year! Remember, be careful as you fly close to the edge of the air.

    1. Yes, there are hard things in that realm, things not conducive to safety of flight.

      Happy New Year Dave!
