Argh

(Source)
So the summer is going along, just fine. I'm concerned about the upcoming election, I made a choice and was prepared to stick with it. Then this happened...
“The five-shot rifle, that’s a standard military rifle; the problem is if you attach a clip to it so it can fire more shells and if you remove the pin so that it becomes an automatic weapon, and those are independent criminal offenses,” Weld said. “That is when they become, essentially, a weapon of mass destruction. The problem with handguns probably is even worse than the problem of the AR-15.” - Bill Weld, Libertarian candidate for Vice President.
What? (Source)

Now I admit, I had been warned about Mr. Weld, I have a few friends from Massachusetts who suffered through his administration of the Commonwealth. He was a Republican back then, allegedly, from what I hear, he was really a RINO (Republican In Name Only). With that rambling statement above (which you can watch here), I experienced an immediate reaction. Like this...

Yup, Bill Weld's rambling nonsense was like one wing coming off, left me spinning out of control it did. Now that was a couple of weeks ago, I went in for surgery, and had a lot of time to think. So think I did, remembering back to how I felt in May, and how I felt in July. There has been a lot of water under the bridge since then.

So I started digging into my inclination to vote Libertarian come November, I did not like what I found. This article and this one as well, plus a few others here and there have brought me up short on what my stance has been up until now.

There is only one thing that I am absolutely sure of, and that is that Shrillary, of the Clinton Crime Family, has to be stopped. If The Donald is the only way to do that, then so be it. While I like to stand on principle, I'm not suicidal. Anything which would let that shrieking, evil harpy get her hands on the controls of government is something I will be no part of.

One other thing about these third party candidacies. Why wait until a Presidential Election to start making noise? Why? Because they're all dumb ass politicians, that's why. If you want to break the stranglehold on politics in the U.S. held by the Democrats and the Republicans, start making your noise just after the election, when we're all feeling sick at heart over the outcome. Build your damn party from the ground up, running a couple of recycled RINOs ain't the way to do it.

Yup, I might be holding my nose when I step into the box in November, but nobody will be able to blame me if the wicked witch of Arkansas gets into the White House. For if that happens, say goodbye to your freedom, say goodbye to your liberty, and say goodbye to your rights under the Constitution for the next fifty years. If not longer.

You boys had your chance, and you blew it.

You're up Mr. Trump.

And I hate waffling!

  1. As soon as I heard that we need to get rid our carriers, and have free access to marijuana, I crossed them off the list.

    1. Yup, the gun lunacy from Weld, no carriers, legal pot, at that point I figured those two RINOs needed to get stuffed.

    2. My sister lived in NM when Johnson was Governor. She said he was much more like a Democrat or a Communist (But....I repeat myself) than a libertarian or a Republican. Sounds like she may have been right.

    3. Yeah, I heard that recently. Gave me pause it did.

  2. You have captured my feelings--and intentions--pretty much perfectly.

    "Look at what backwards?"
"Voting. People are always demanding more and better performance from elected officials, but when you get right down to it, shouldn't the nation demand more and better performance from the citizens who vote? If they do their job well, then the quality of those they elect will naturally follow."
"It's a team sport. If everyone doesn't play their position well, the whole team suffers. There's no place in the stands for any of us. We all belong on the field."

  5. I have to admit that I have been vehemently anti-Trump throughout the primary season. And I have a bit of Libertarianism in my thinking. But these two clowns aren’t just old, discredited RINOs, they are bat$hit crazy.
As much as I dislike Trump in many respects, I realize that I am going to have to swallow my concerns and vote for him. My primary reason is that the balance of the Supreme Court is far too important to the future of our nation to be allowed to fall into the hands of Hillary Clinton. There will be an immediate appointment that will swing the current Court either to the side of conservative decisions, or to give control to Ruth Bader Ginsberg, Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan and Stephen Breyer. I cannot, in good conscience, be a party to that.

    1. Good reasons Dave. A big one regarding the appointment to the Court.

  7. I work under the assumption that anyone from Maryland to Maine and from the coast to about the OH/PA border, who calls themselves a Republican or Conservative is really a Democrat or Liberal in disguise.

    1. I'm starting to learn that that is a pretty good rule of thumb!

  8. In the past, I have noticed that Libertarians run the gamut from liberal to conservative. The Johnson Weld ticket (Johnson Weld...that sounds extremely painful!) panders exclusively to the left side of the spectrum.

    1. If they can take votes away from Hillary, I'm a fan. I won't vote for them, but I'm a fan.

    2. Mike, I was really agonizing over this for a few weeks, Weld's idiocy and a deeper look at their platform made me run away. Fast. At this point it's anything to beat Shrillary!

    3. Juvat, some of the progs will run to the Greens, most will grumble and vote Dem anyway.

I don't think they'll attract enough Shrillary voters to hurt her, probably WILL draw a lot of RINO votes though. This election is going to suck.

    4. Juvat: He might take votes away from Hillary, but at this point he's likely to siphon some votes from the libertarian right as well.
Sarge: You can quit agonizing. I heard Johnson parroting the global warming talking points the other day, too. Strange that a party that supposedly celebrates individual liberty would advocate greater government involvement to save you from the carbon dioxide you breathe.

    5. Roger that Mike, secure agonizing!

  9. If the cultural/political degradation of our country continues there will be bloodshed -if votes do not work then violence may. This country was not founded with a belief that the citizens should just sit on the sidelines and watch the experiment end in failure. I disagree that Veterans will just watch America die and do nothing about it.

Give the Progressives control of the Courts and then Congress will not have any power. Congress has already abdicated much of their power and allowed the Executive and the Federal Agencies to do most anything they want without any restraint.

I do not believe that if Hillary is elected, and if things go as bad as I think they will, that the attitude of Americans will be "Okay, we will correct this situation in 20,30, 50 years".

I will continue to vote- for now.
