Colonel Leo Thorsness, Vietnam veteran, Medal of Honor recipient, Thud pilot extraordinaire, and a personal hero of mine has entered the clearing at the end of the path.
I weep as the border of his portrait in the blog header goes from green to black.
'Tis a sad day.
We're starting to lose the Vietnam generation, honor them while you still can. I try.

The men who flew Wild Weasel missions had a pair the size of beach balls. They deserve undying respect. Colonel Thorsness was a warrior.

I had the honor of meeting him when he lived in the Renton, WA area and ran for state representative. I supported and worked to elect his opponent. He won. His lead was so big, we knew it was over at 10 pm. He came to our election watch party to personally thank his opponent for a clean, hard fought campaign. Not a phone call, a personal visit. Class act.
