'Tis Lazy I Am...

It snowed on Saturday (Exhibit 1 above) and again on Thursday. Gives the landscape a nice Christmasy look. Though the snow which fell over the weekend was mostly gone by Wednesday. (Had rain on Tuesday as I recall.)

I am bereft of things to post about. I felt that my last two posts were only semi-coherent. I need to get more sleep.

Speaking of sleep, I dreamt that I purchased a PT Boat from an old friend down in Florida (I'm looking at you Rick). Fully functional, fully loaded. I'd just brought it home, don't ask how that happened, the dream wasn't that clear. Home was the lot where the Ancestral Home sits (up in Vermont) but the house itself was the current Chez Sarge domicile.

To top it off, I was greeted by The Missus Herself and two kids. However, the two kids were my brothers, about 50 years ago. Odd that. Good thing I woke up before The Missus Herself asked what I was going to do with a PT Boat. Which was weird on the other hand as the actual progeny were nowhere to be seen. Seeing as how they were all in the Navy, at least two of them know a thing or two about driving boats. (The WSO would have been no help, perhaps next time I'll dream of bringing a Super Hornet home. She knows her way around those.)

At any rate, I'm tired, I'm crabby, and I don't feel like blogging tonight. 죄송합니다! But there it is. I do have some photos of Chez Sarge all kitted out for Christmas, though it be minimalist. Perhaps Friday night will find me in a more evocative mood.

Ya never know.

  1. Before I realized that the streaks in the first photo were snowflakes, I thought they might be chemtrails.

  2. Oooh, can I be on the 40mm gun crew? (Or if not, I'll take something small, like one of the .50s.)

  3. No more pepperoni pizza before bed for you!

  4. If you moved a couple of states northward, all the halls in your home would be Maine hallways.

I volunteer to help crew the PT boat's engineroom, even though you have those new fangled gasoline engines. And I say again that anybody who went into harm's way in a wooden boat filled with aviation gasoline and explosives deserves my respect.

Your house looks like a home, that is a good feeling, and your post today has left me feeling content. Thank you.

    1. Loved the "Maine" hallway at my parents' old place in Wells. (Good line too.)

So I have you down for the "black gang" down in the engine room, roger that.

The Missus Herself has made our house a home, I love her for that. (Well, lot's of other reasons too.)

    1. Hahaha!

I wonder if I should go virtual 3-D? Nah, The Missus Herself would have my head for that.

  6. What would you do with a PT boat? Two words: Man Cave. Alternate response, whatever the heck you want.

    1. Apply for a Letter of Marque of course.

      Or a man cave.

That last bit you mention works as well.

      ;)

    2. The first would be nice. Have a good fishing boat that generates a side income combatting pirates and enemies of the state on the off season.

      I could go for that.

    3. Private fishing charter, privateer, close enough. Both work for me.

  7. Well, after the severe naval (not ship, the thing above your waistband) gazing and philosophical discourse over the last two days, of course your brain needed a break. Lots of neurons were activated, all that brain exercise is tiring, dontchaknow?

And, a PT Boat? Hrmmm, I'm not a rated swabbie, but every boat needs a cook and comic relief. Just no Kapok mattresses.

  8. I volunteer for crew duties. I'd like helmsman, but will take anything. Thanks for the post. You have a beautiful house. (Yes yes, I know, the Missus Herself did it, but It's your post.)

    1. Helmsman eh?

Well, why not? Volunteers accepted, no need for a press gang.

      And thanks Paul.

    1. Indeed, the descendants of the Vikings fought with great tenacity. The Germans lost enough destroyers to cripple the further usefulness of their surface fleet.

And The King's Choice is on my list as a "must see."

  10. OK, I will volunteer for dishwashing and deck swabbing, and hey...nurse...need a medic?

And I wanted to say the other night, how lovely your Christmas cactus was, but wasn't sure if it was yours or just a picture you found someplace in 'puter land. Now, thanks to the Christmas Tour, I know. It is very pretty!
Mine blooms like that in July :(

    1. Everyone, except the captain of course, will pitch in with swapping and washing, it's what sailors do. But a medic? Definitely could use one of those!

When in doubt as to where I got the picture, if it isn't mine I put a source in the caption. At least I try to remember to do that.

Our Christmas cactus blooms twice a year, July as well. For years it didn't do anything, now that it knows how pretty it can be, it tries harder. At least I like to think so.

      ;)

  11. When my family lived in Chicago, our next-door neighbors had a sailboat, probably a 40' one. They took us out one time. At the marina, there was also a privately-owned PT boat. I was told that the owner didn't take it out very often, as it burned a lot of gas.

Gas was maybe 30 cents a gallon then.

    1. You'd have to be wealthy to afford to run one of those. Especially considering the price of fuel these days.

      Still, a PT Boat...

Just be polite... that's all I ask. (For Buck)
Can't be nice, go somewhere else...
