Lost in the crash of their CH-53E Super Stallion

As Tuna mentioned to me the other day, military aviation is an inherently dangerous profession. Fatalities in training, while not common, do occur.

We mourn the loss of these fine Marines.

They will not be forgotten.

Rest in peace.

  3. For the longest time, even during some of the darker days of the endless war against terror, training and just being in the service were the #1 ways to die or be injured. Deaths in training are no less valiant as those in combat, as often the personnel will take actions that lead directly to their deaths or injuries in order to save civilians.

Then there is the eternal killer, especially in the past 8 years, of lack of funds for maintenance and upkeep, deaths directly to be laid at the feet of those in power who restricted money for basic, not the least critical, repairs.

God will watch over their souls now. As God watches over all who are in the Armed Forces. I hope this was just an unavoidable accident, not one caused by lack of character on the part of certain people.
