I Had No Idea

(Source)
So the Muse is claiming that she's a government worker.

She claims she's been furloughed and can't help me out.

I had no idea.

Actually I was busier than a one-legged man in a butt kicking contest yesterday. So you get squat, bupkis, nada, rien, nichts. Well, I think you get the picture. Talk quietly amongst yourselves, "I'll be back."

  1. I just saw the forecast for next week. 10" of snow on Sunday night/Monday, and a low Wednesday night, without the wind chill, of -27.

  2. Currently minus eight, minus thirty at I-Falls (THAT will clear out your sinus), supposed to warm up to four above this afternoon..... ah.... winter. Sarge, tell your muse no work, no pay.

    1. International Falls? That I-Falls? Dang, that's way up there!

      Damn near Canada.

      Stay warm.

  3. Sarge, you almost got political there. Careful, or you'll become jaded like me! Several pols have tried to pass bills to pay the Coasties and the Border Patrol folks, but that has failed. I feel really bad for them, and their families, really all the workers who are now 2 paychecks down. Then again, passing that sort of bill allows the govt to be shut down, but their consciences are clear. That could reduce the incentive to reach a compromise. If you won't pass a full funding bill to reopen, you have to live with the consequences. I really believe Trump is trying, but the other side is refusing to even talk, or at least give an inch. Sure, I saw something about money for tech, Daca, more agents, more lawyers, but zero, nilch, nada for any physical structures. That just smacks of pettiness. Do they really believe there's no fencing that needs repaired? That there are no areas where barriers are not needed? Surveillance equipment- suppose we see people crossing- what can we do about that? Why not just prevent them from crossing in the first place. Human trafficking is a HUGE problem, and they don't see the need to stop that? Ugh. SOTU? I think he should allow someone to write him a speech where he doesn't stray off script, doesn't piss anyone on the left off with his constant digs and name calling, and appeal to the public with facts and personal appeals from CBP folks, those that deal with the effects of drug trafficking, with the human toll of human trafficking, etc.

    1. Yup, Pelosi (hack, spit) and those of her ilk don't want a secure border, why? More votes for them, it worked for Labour in Britain, didn't do the country any good though. All they care about is power.

They should all go to prison for violating their oath.

      Whoa, I did get political!

    2. Just like with Civil Rights, it is the Dems who are resisting paying workers over the whole mess. But it will be the Dems who will take credit for any resolution.

Nice choice of phraseology as well.

    2. HD - Hahaha! Canadians don't feel the cold like other people do. (My great grandpa was Canadian, French-Canadian.)

    3. Nylon12 - Why sure, you betcha. A little det cord to break through the permafrost, that's all ya need.

    4. So, for planting trees, do you use a shaped charge from a panzerfaust-like device?

During the construction of airfields on Tinian, the Navy SeaBees used Sherman tanks firing AP ammo to drill holes in the coral structure, so they could blast. Not all holes were done like that, just the extremely recalcitrant.

    5. Explosives are useful in construction.

Apparently for planting tulips in Canada as well. ;)

  5. Sure, first you write, " Talk quietly amongst yourselves,..."; then you go and make explosive remarks.

Thanks for the ( sort of ) post.

    1. I confess, it is a "sort of" post. I had no time to sit down and write last night. Church meeting ran late, had to do some stuff for The Nuke before she goes on travel, etc., etc. So I was up late doing not much more than annoying the feline staff.

I call these posts "still alive" posts. Perhaps I can find something controversial this weekend.

      Or not.

    2. Letting us/me know that you are still alive is just fine, in fact, it beats the **** out of not knowing.

    3. Why don't you tread into really controversial stuff like whether the Lee-Henry was a better rifle than the Krag-Jorgensen or the eternal 9mm vs .45ACP. Threads like that always tend to bring out the Hatfield vs McCoy in people.

    4. Oh yes, yes they do.

I would rather argue over which is better - milk or dark chocolate.

    5. DARK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    6. Juvat - You seem noncommittal...

      But yeah, me too.

    7. I go with the consensus. dark.

    8. While, in general, I prefer dark, milk chocolate served some purposes very well. I had some chocolate chunks cookies this week, that were superb.

    9. Good point Scott, good cookies too!

    10. But they're better with semi-sweet dark chunks.

    11. Hhmm, semi-sweet dark chunks?

Can't seem to find a drooling emoji, because that's what I'm doing, drooling...

  6. Hey AFSarge;

Top o the morning to you, LOL. You almost skated political there. Don't feel bad, I rant 1 or 2 times a week on politics. That is why I do a blog so I don't go to zuckertraz for pissing off a liberal, leftist, communist, socialist, or any other subsets of the democrat party, it is a safety valve. Enjoy the cold up there, ;)
