Actually, I was going to go with that one, but the phrase "Headin' down the highway" was stuck in my head, so I went with Steppenwolf.

ReplyDeleteIt looks like the weather is improving, and what's running through my head is a near endless song repeat of just the words, "Born To Be Wild." I don't know the lyrics well enough to do much else. I'm off to YouTube.
Maybe I'll follow the tip from Anonymous and end up with a Steppenwolf and Willie Nelson mashup earworm.
I never got around to seeing "Easy Rider."

I didn't drive 55 when it was the law, nor did most people on the interstate when I was driving. Though the mighty Datsun B210 could only get up to 65mph without stretching the rubber band too hard or doing permanent damage to the hampsters when flogging them. :)

Beans, a Datsun B210 was the second car I ever wrecked! I do remember driving it way too fast. Fortunately my mom was none the wiser. The crash was not due to speed though just blowing through a stoplight! I was a stupid kid.

My favorite highway music is either Paul Schwartz's 'Aria' Albums (modern renditions of classical and opera music) or Mandalay or ELO (as long as it's not from the first three albums before Jeff Lynne got control) or, yeah, 3 Dog Night, StepenWolf, Queen, Styx, Estampe...
Estampe is a German group that try to recreate medieval music from pieces that have been recovered. Kind of difficult as modern notation hadn't been invented yet (duh) and so some guessing is required.
Back in the day, having to have to listen to that GD song in the shop over and over and over...

Actually on the road and traveling? Foo Fighters, Beatles, and a bit o' 3 Doors Down (I have their greatest hits on CD). Oddly enough, when I'm in for the long haul, I'll listen to music for about an hour, then switch it all off to hear the sound of the road.
For long range driving the best is Sirius XM radio. That way I can listen to 50's, 60's, 70's, talk, jazz, classical, whatever the mood wants. The mood depends on how tired I am, how slow, or fast, the traffic is, and how much farther it is to "getting there."

I had Sirius for a while a few years back. Kept losing the signal driving up to New Hampshire, so I didn't renew it.
