I feel the need to have a sword close at hand. Too much darkness on the horizon, too many wanting to tear down this country that so many have built. The enemy within is the worst of all.
I was trying to remember a song which fits my current mood and outlook.
This is it...
Broadsword - Ian Anderson
I see a dark sail on the horizon
Set under a black cloud that hides the sun
Bring me my broadsword and clear understanding
Bring me my cross of gold as a talisman
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing
Take women and children and bed them down
Bring me my broadsword and clear understanding
Bring me my cross of gold as a talisman
Bless with a hard heart those who surround me
Bless the women and children who firm our hands
Put our backs to the north wind, hold fast by the river
Sweet memories to drive us on for the motherland
I see a dark sail on the horizon
Set under a black cloud that hides the sun
So bring me my broadsword and clear understanding
Bring me my cross of gold as a talisman
So bring me my broadsword and a cross of gold as a talisman

It's a travel day, back to the shores of Narragansett Bay after a nice trip down to see the kids in Maryland. Not sure if I'll post Saturday or not...
So Beans, if you wish...
It has been days...and you nailed it.
ReplyDeleteAye, too many.
DeleteBit partial to The Cruxshadows "Winterborn" but yours also fits the bill Sarge, both are fell songs for fell days.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to check that out.
DeleteSafe travels on your return. Hurricane watch in effect from the Connecticut border to Cape Cod. Enough to distract us from the Deja Vu involving the sandbox area. Old Guns
ReplyDeleteI see a bad moon rising!
DeleteSafe travels, Sarge. Great song. Fits my mood to perfection.
ReplyDeleteWe're home, battening down for that raging Frenchman!
Delete“Lo, there do I see my father.
ReplyDeleteLo, there do I see my mother,
and my sisters, and my brothers.
Lo, there do I see the line of my people,
Back to the beginning!
Lo, they do call to me.
They bid me take my place among them,
In the halls of Valhalla!
Where the brave may live forever!”
- The Thirteenth Warrior
Safe Travels Sarge. And yes, it is that kind of mood.
The brave live on!
DeleteThey have not won. I will not surrender. I will stand with my comrades. I continue to prepare.
ReplyDelete-Barry
With you brother.
DeleteBroadsword indeed. Recently picked up one of these--

Got it zeroed last week.
I remember. I remember as my wife and I babysit our six month old grandson. I remember and a fire burns inside to still be here when he is old enough for me to tell him of sacrifice of those who came before, so he can remember.
Nice!
Deleteour glorious leaders have done to the nation what has been done to my church.
ReplyDeleteI have been, am and always will be an American Citizen.
Them? Not so much.
Got the subtle clue, boss. Hope things are a-okay on the trip back and at home.
Same pack of Satan worshipers.
DeleteSafe Travels, Sarge.
ReplyDeleteWe recovered at home base around 1730 local.
DeleteSarge, watch out for that (probably) inbound (potential) hurricane. The current best-guess track has it coming ashore at Newport RI on Sunday afternoon/evening.
ReplyDeleteMaybe hang out in Maryland for a few days first?
Staying in Maryland would have been an option, but we needed to be home.
DeleteSaw a meme...Now you know what the funding fathers meant by "Enemies foreign and DOMESTIC."
ReplyDeleteYup, now we're seeing it.
They knew.
