A Great Weekend!

Hi there, Chant Readers! Let me introduce myself.  I am referred to on this blog as MG.  My Grandfather asked me to fill in for him this week as he's had a VERY long weekend and he wanted a nap Sunday Afternoon instead of writing his usual Monday blog post.  You see, this past weekend was my First Birthday and he's kinda pooped from the festivities.

You folks seem to refer to him as juvat.  I, and my family (Mom and Dad, and the 5 dogs, 3 Cats and 2 Horses) refer to him as Papa Julio, or PJ or Peej. I'm not sure why that is as I'm only a year old and evidently my Mom has been referring to him as that for a long time.  At least when she's not referring to him as "The Old Fart", I'm not sure what that means, but everybody snicker's when it's used.

Except Papa Julio, of course. He doesn't think it's funny for some reason.

But, here I am, ghost writing a post for PJ. You may ask, how a 1 year old knows how to type and use Blogger.  Evidently, he spent a considerable amount of time teaching me the intricacies of Blogger.  I would insert a picture of that training, except my Visual Effects assistant is having "issues".

Here he is trying to fix the problem

But, in any case, we do have photographic evidence of the Gala Event this weekend.

I was introduced to Strawberries and Yogurt.  I liked it VERY much.  Please, Mom, Can I have some more?

We played Hide and Go Seek.  Little Juvat thought he had a good hiding place.  I found him immediately after I found my father. (He was hiding as a book reader.  Not a good hiding place.)

PJ thought I was going to take my first steps walking.  No, I was pulling the chair out for him so he could sit down. He was getting tired from taking all these pictures.

Then we went to Aggie Land Outfitters.  Dad and Mom say Aggie Indoctrination can not start too early. So, they bought me this.

My younger cousin, who's in hospital but doing MUCH better, (Not intubated anymore, Papa Julio says that's VERY good news.)
got this one.

For the Non-Texans, Here is a description of this slogan and its history.

Then we went out to dinner.  It was a very nice restaurant. Dad, Papa Julio, and Uncle Little J all had steaks.  I had pureed Blueberries and Beets.  I decided Hide and Go Seek would be a fun activity.

I bet you can't find me!

The next day, we had a special ceremony which was started by my Mom on her first birthday.  I'm not sure of the significance of this event, but I went along as the "Adults" (Quotation marks included because with all the giggling and laughing going on, I wasn't so sure about their Adult Status anymore.)

First, I was placed upon my throne.

Then the Court Jester (sometimes known as Little Juvat) ceremoniously brought in Dessert.

As with all Royalty, I was reticent to try it without the court Taster trying it first.  One can never be too careful.

His tasting was successful, so he presented me with the prize.  Apparently, I liked it and tried to apply it as lipstick.

Which must have been the My Loyal Subject's desired action as they broke out in clapping and laughter.  I was later informed that this was the same action my Mother had taken on her first birthday.

The Tradition Continues!

Very shortly thereafter, I, and my Grandfather, started nodding off on the couch.  We were escorted off to our various chambers and tucked into the arms of Morpheus.

Hope y'All  had a great week as well.  (Yes, like my Grandfather, I am a Texan. Unlike him, I'm a Natural Born Texan.  He's, as usual, late to the fight!)

P.S. My Audio/Visual Assistant came through at the last minute. Here's the training picture.

  1. MG - Thank you so very much for the update and happy first birthday. Your Papa J has reliably informed us of all of your progress and you and your cousin have a bevy of people (to be fair, mostly old guys like your Papa J) pulling for both of you.

We appreciate you filling in. Getting old can be exhausting.

  2. Yes, MG it's good to see the younger generation step up to help out the older generation and trying out a new Dessert is one of those heavy responsibilities.............. :)

    1. Señor Sarge,
I've got a lot of things on my plate (and in my lap) right now. I think I'll stay around as a Ghost Writer as the situation requires.

Thanks, I take after my Maternal Grand Father.

    1. Crusty OTT,
Yeah, they are. I generally have an evening nap, just prior to dinner to help recover from the afternoon nap. It takes a lot of energy to grow when you're my age. Not sure what PJ's excuse is unless it takes a lot of energy to regrow hair on the head.

  6. Thanks for the update! I sure hope Papa Peej wasn't pooped in the same way your diaper gets pooped or is that poopy. Any ways. You were very gentle with the cake. When my youngest got the cake it was all over him, the chair, his hair, the floor and he fell asleep in a pile of cake crumbs and frosting. We have this little whirlpool in the bathroom. I was gonna just stick him in there and let the water wash him off, but my wife wouldn't let me. I thought maybe we could just let it dry up and flake off, but that wasn't allowed either.

You did a great job, you're a hoot and a handful. Have a good week keeping every one on their toes!!

    1. Sir STxAR,
No, it wasn't THAT definition. Although...occasionally...Well, you know!

Mom and Grams did a pretty good job of cleaning me up. After I took care of most of the cake. It was sooo good, I just wanted to keep some near me in case I wanted another taste.

      Will Do!

  7. MG: Happy Belated Birthday!! May you have a 100 more!!!
Plus chocolate cake IS the best!!!
You did a very fine job of filling in for your PJ...and I loved the video of your assistant...I used to have an assistant the exact same color.
Also very glad to hear the fantastic news about your first cousin being able to get rid of the intabation tube. It's wonderful to hear she is making great progress. Soon she will be able to run and play with you!
Naps are the best things going in my book, especially afternoon ones!!
Take care, and write again sometime,

    1. Ms Suz,
Thank you very much. MoushKa (or was it MooshKa?) was actually filmed in that video. My camera operator was actually my Grandma. She had a hard time getting good film, she was laughing so hard. Norwegian Grays are great cats, very soft and friendly.
Yes, we are also glad that LJD is doing better. FiO2 is at 24% now. Mom tells me that's very good and almost low enough to get her off the ventilator and on to something that will teach her how to breathe more normally. As PJ would say, "THAT will be good"!
I like naps and am prone to take almost as many every as PJ does. Does that make him a "NapaHolic"?
My Grandma just found the picture of my Mom on her first birthcay. Suffice it to say...as soon as it is scanned, it will be posted.
      Thanks.

  10. Long winded little fellow aint he? My daughter at about that age reached out to touch the key board herself and all of a sudden all my script was in microfont and it took lots of research to reverse the effect of a single stab at the keys. Welcome to the blogosphere little one.

    1. Well, Cap'n, I am a she, my hair is still coming in and it was a tad hot in College Station this weekend, so no shirts were injured in the filming of this event.
PJ has experienced that effect relatively frequently. In the top left hand corner of the Post: Edit page, there's a pencil. Clicking on that exposes a drop down menu with options for HTML and Compose. Compose is the default. It's like typing. HTML is the code that gets generated. While he is experienced in working in HTML, PJ regularly finds it easier to just delete everything that's generated from the last known good point in the page and below. "What IS all this poop?" is his usual commentary. I think he uses a different word when I'm not around. But, you are correct in your assessment of Blogger's subtleties.

Well....Sorta. Seems it's Code 3 (Inop to Maintenance types like Sarge, but I as the Grand Daughter of a Fighter Pilot understand). Overuse and maltreatment were ruled as the causes. The Chief of Maintenance, Supply and Finance has not authorized a replacement as of this point.
