Movie Review

(Source)
So back in 2010 the film Trollhunter came out, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I watched it in the original Norwegian, with subtitles as I just don't speak Norsk, kinda wish I did though as it's a neat language. It's got a lilting, rhythm vibe to it. Pleasant to listen to.

I have to say that I got pretty excited when I saw this trailer a few weeks back ...

After resolving to watch it, I promptly forgot about it. As Friday was a day off, I was casting about for something to watch, a little voice in my head whispered "Netflix," so I went there.

After seeing that trailer some time back, I guess I actually went to Netflix and added that upcoming film to my watch list. Lo and behold, there it was, so I watched it.

Great fun, some really good characters, including a guy I count as my favorite Norwegian actor. He's been in a few films I've seen, always seems to play a guy who ain't as honest as he should be. He's a really good actor. He plays the characters you love to hate!

Here's the trailer for Trollhunter ...
(I post it so you don't have to go hunting, but you will have to click over to YouTube to watch it, beklager.²)

A couple of fun movies to watch on a cold winter night.

Enjoy!

And yes, I'm still in my creativity drought, ah weel, this too shall pass.

¹ Google Translate says this is pronounced "Freet-yoff So-highm." And yes, that's an approximation.
² Sorry. (Norwegian)

  1. Sarge, I have to admit I have a secret penchant for some of the Netflix SciFi - horribly written, heavy CGI graphics, but delightful.

If you are looking for a Norwegian movie in the same vein (e.g. involves a monster), I am not sure if Ragnarok is still there, but might be worth a watch.

    1. I have been watching that on and off. Need to get back to it.

  2. The first movie is a "found footage" type movie. Scared the stuffing out of me when I watched it. Wasn't sure what it was supposed to be, but man, that is something else. I watched the Girl With The Dragon Tattoo as well. That was a gut wrenching whodunit. They make some interesting movies over there.

  4. Not to threadjack; have you seen "Devotion" yet? If not, you need to do so.

  5. Not a big fan of horror movies. Not that there's anything wrong with them, just not into them. YMMV (to quote a great American).

Just wanted to comment that the copyright Nazis seemed to strike again on your video clip (at least on Brave). Looks to me that you properly credited it, so Whiskey Tango Fox? Oscar!.

On a tertiary note. your "Creativity Drought" results in better posts than 95% of most folks best postings. Hang in there. This too shall pass, much like last night's Mexican Dinner!

    Or...something like that.

    Cheers,

    1. I've seen that before, the "can't watch it here, need to go to YouTube," it's a mild aggravation. It ain't your browser it's the person who "owns" the video. (Not sure who that might be, hopefully it's the folks who actually made the film.)

Right now I feel like a substitute teacher who's also the football coach. Not sure what to do, show a video.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. Being busy with "other things" also saps one's creativity. Perhaps I just need a break from thinking. (Though my wife would no doubt say, "How is today different from other days?" - she has a point.)

  6. Sarge, your blogs are always like a small present to start the day. Waiting only increases the delight of anticipation.
That said, Miss Jeanie and I have lost most of our Norwegian (it wasn’t hard). She’s not a much of a sub captioning reader, so I’ll have to wait until next week to watch the flick. That’s what 57 years of marriage does - agree to disagree.

    1. Compromise, it's not just for politicians! (Though most of them have forgotten what that means!)

  7. Heh. My “creativity drought” has gone on for awhile. I have two half-finished novels and a third that is in rewrite stage and I’m just not feeling it.

    So I can relate.

    1. It sucks to get hung up, doesn't it. I know the drought will end, but it's tough! Good luck!
