Northbound ...

OAFS Photo
So we're heading back north today, it was a brief visit to Maryland, but a good one. Got to see Roberto on his third birthday and got to see his big sister and his kid brother as well. Not to mention the granddogs, always nice to see The Nuke's canine staff.

We're leaving later today (tix on SWA are cheaper if you fly later in the day) but it will be busy so I won't have anything written for Wednesday. (Hint to Senor Frijoles, or Maguro-san¹, whoever strikes first.)

I didn't post a link to yesterday's juvat Monday post on either Failbook or MeWe as the lead in picture (which I have little control over) was a bit gory. Didn't want to put folks off their feed nor run afoul of the petty censors at Failbook. MeWe is a bit more tolerant but few people actually visit there.

So, I've been having fun with lower back issues lately, these come and go, last time I had a problem with it was over five years ago. It's annoying, makes it hard to get any useful sleep, but this too shall pass. No medical advice please, I know the issue, it's my body and he's a cranky sumbitch from time to time.

Anyhoo, just a short post to say, "I'm alive and unbloodied, unlike juvat." As to the thumb thing, DAMN!, I once lopped off the end of a finger but enough stayed attached for them to sew the flap back on. Finger/thumb injuries are absolutely no fun, get well soon juvat and be careful around those power tools. Once they've tasted human flesh ...

Ciao!

  2. Sarge,
Sorry about the Picture. Gory? Shoulda seen it in living color. Took it so the various medicos could have an idea what it looked like before they removed the bandages and the blood started flowing. Also as a yardstick to measure progress. Didn't know that the book of (two?) face would censor such. Never heard of Mewee before.
    But...
Glad you had a break and were able to log some quality Family time. I' m going to check out the recuperative power thereof myself early next week.
    Cheers,

  3. It's good you got to see kin and the youngest generation. Touching base and seeing continuity is almost always nice.

Lower back pain is a pain in the neck. I've been dealing with it since about '83. Be fine, load trucks, stack wood, it's fine. Pick up a paper napkin off the floor and be bedridden for a few days.
But what it comes down to is all the abuse we subjected out bodies to when we were unbreakable and immortal, say between the ages of 15 and 30, coming back to taunt us, "Hah! Remember when you (fill in stupid physical deed)? PAY UP!" Other way to put it is "We're getting on in years, toward the Biblical three score and ten.

    1. Pay back is indeed painful. My kids got tired of hearing me say, every time they got hurt, "You're gonna feel that when you hit 50!"

  6. I had a fight with a running bench saw (I want to blame Holly for distracting me by not having her waist-lenght hair tied up while working in the shop ... but I knew better.) Cutting the parts for 20 identical chairs, stuck my right index finder into the blade doing the cut, put the part aside, wondered where all the ketchup was coming from? Oh. Rushed to ER by others, got 94 stitches sewing the left and right sides of my index finger back together. ... Long Story Short -- I can predict air pressure changes, and have 95% motion. More that enough for firearms.

Just be polite... that's all I ask. (For Buck)
Can't be nice, go somewhere else...
