Recognizable construction progress

Well, Folks, looks like it's Monday again!  As mentioned in an earlier post, there was a bit of good news vis a vis my driving again this week.  Just waitin' on the paperwork, but it's in DMV's lap now, so who knows when I'll be hitting the road again?

So... I thought a song from the time when most of us readers got our driver's license for the first time would be nice.  Makes me feel a tad younger (maybe a day or two).

Well, now that we've got that out of our system, on with the show!

My Brother's house is looking pretty good.  The exterior is all but finished.  The front door needs knobs and locks, I think that's all the exterior needs. Inside still needs wiring and plumbing then drywall and painting.

Our house is starting to look like a house.  We walked through it Saturday, no one was there.

So...

This is the view out the living room in the front of the house.  Yeah, I think I'm going to be spending a lot of time there pondering things!

View out the back of the house

And, when I'm not pondering things from the living room, the alternate pondering room will be the Sunset porch directly on the other side of the house from the living room.  We'll be able to watch the horses (in the clearing on the other side of the treeline). We'll also have easy access to the wine refrigerator.  Sooooo, pretty nice.  More to come as progress continues.

Y'all have a good week and stay safe.

juvat over and out!

  1. That's one song I've not heard in awhile, those folks could sing! Your brother's house is looking good juvat and your future home is coming along nicely. Nice view indeed out the back, got a camera system picked out for the homestead?

    1. Nylon,
Agreed about the song. We'll see how the construction ends up. Hopefully well and soon. No camera system as yet.

  3. Will they put out a warning (something like a NOTAM) when you get behind the wheel again?😁

Just thought of something that I did but your builder can do if you already haven't had it done. Put blocking in the walls of the shower and toilet room in at least the master bath (I won't use the woke primary or main) to attach hand rails to when the need arrives someday.. I was reminded of this since I just got out of Audie Murphy after two weeks. I have already put the rails in our shower since my 95 YO mother-in-law might have to stay in our house.

    1. BillB, I think Texas DMV has already done so. I see people swerving away from me and I'm NOT EVEN driving! ;-)

We're not close to having that level of detail done yet, but that's an excellent suggestion. I will let him know we'd like that installed. Thanks

  4. Looks great Juvat! How very encouraging, considering what it looked like a month ago.

    1. THBB,
Agreed. Now we can at least get a feel for how large a room is and what the view from the windows is. So, making progress!

  5. Access to the wine fridge! Sounds like you've got your priorities in the right order. I would assume that there's no tweaker problem in 2A friendly Texas? I say so because houses under construction on the left coast have had druggies going into homes and tearing out the copper pipes and wiring to fuel their drug habits. They'd be at risk of hole punches and lead poisoning in Texas I'd guess.

    1. Tuna,
Quite a possible outcome. I've met a few people in the "neighborhood". They all seem to be regular folks and down to earth. So...we shall see what will be. I am armed though.

  6. Juvat, haven't checked the blog in a while and glad to see all the progress that's being made on the property. Hopefully, TDPS will get energized and get your ok to drive paperwork through.
I am impressed at the views of the tall, thick population of trees. Something we don't see that often here in the 'burg. Hope the construction continues to progress well, and everyone stays healthy.
    Best regards,
    Cletus

    1. Cletus,
Yeah it is pretty nice. Lots of trees on all the properties on our road. (There's probably 10 total and the road is about a mile long, so a bit of privacy and quiet)
Thanks, Mrs J is doing great as am I so...Thank you Lord!

    1. Getting there, the Barn is ready, just need the fence put up which should be done this week or next at the latest. We will toast the arrival of Cabernet and Merlot with a bottle of Cabernet we've had for a while saving for an auspicious occasion. This will do.

Just be polite... that's all I ask. (For Buck)
Can't be nice, go somewhere else...
