Thunderbird Ride Along

There are days when I just need to get some aerial action*. Some in cockpit stuff. With or without the "cheesy" music as Buck likes to put it. (Truth be told, the music doesn't bother me.) I found the following video over at Air Boyd. The video was shot by USAF Staff Sgt. Jarid Watson. Who had the opportunity to watch the team, up close and personal. (Me jealous? Nah. Well, maybe a little.)

No music. Just flying. A bit long but hey, it's from the cockpit. And yes, I recommend full screen. Let's kick the tires and light the fires. (Does anyone ever actually say that? I mean outside of that scene in Independence Day.)

*No, it's not because I couldn't come up with anything to write about.

Well, yeah. Today that's the case. But hey, we all like jets.

Am I right?

I'm jealous. Apropos o' jealousy... SN1 has had two incentive flights during his career, one in an Aardvark and one in a Lawn Dart. The only USAF aircraft I got to ride in during my 22 years were transports, i.e., the C-47 (Yes, a C-47. I'm OLD.), the C-130, the C-141, and the C-9. Oh, and a helicopter, once. But then again, I was never assigned to a flying unit, so there's that.

In re: full screen. Change the resolution to 720p, the default is 360.

    1. Never had an incentive ride. I would take one in a C-47 any day of the week. That was an awesome bird.

As to full screen, my computer defaults to 720. But as not all computers do, it's good to let the readers know these things. That little "Settings" gadget comes in handy at times!

Depends on the definition of "any more". In this day and age, who knows? Back in my day, it wasn't an unusual way to inform the flight that the briefing was over. End it on a light note so to speak.
    Great vid!

    1. Glad you liked the video.

Thanks for the historical tidbit on kick the tires and light the fires!

    2. Just for historical accuracy, there is a second line in the saying. It is "Let's kick the tires and light the fires! First Man up is lead!". As I ponder that line, I realize in today's AF, there's probably no way that is even thought any more much less uttered. Such a lackadaisical, sexist and unplanned approach, I wonder how we ever managed to survive. (Of course, I'm thinking about Skip's Blog as I say that.)

Just be polite... that's all I ask. (For Buck)
