Fourteen Years

The World Trade Center August 2000 (Source)
It was one of those magnificent New England days in late summer/early fall.

The sky was a breathtaking blue with numerous fluffy white clouds to provide contrast.

The temperature was mild, warm with just a hint of the Autumn to come.

It was a perfect day to be alive.

For a number of innocent people, it was their last day on Earth.

My religion teaches me to forgive.

Forgive I might, but forget?

Never.

And I doubt that I will ever, ever forgive the actions perpetrated upon us that day.

Many have forgotten.

And it is to weep.

It has been fourteen years, yet every year when I see this day in the calendar, the anger rises within me once more.

I will never forget that day.

Nor can I forgive.

Lord help me...

  1. There are two groups of people whom I will NEVER forgive. Those that did it and those that use the events to profit politically. No amount of apologies will atone.

  2. I'm not real happy with the AILO's who can't be bothered to give a firetruck, either.

      4) a Motocross rider
      5) A modeling game

Those were the only options the first page of google came up with.

    2. American In Location Only. The all rights, no responsibilities crowd. Which seems to be a rather large demographic.

  4. The evil mindset that perpetrated these horrific acts of terror have been allowed to fester and grow. Our population has been dumbed down and told this was an anomaly. Nothing could be further from the truth. We are mixing the third or fourth batch of kool-aid and soon it will kill us if we don't keep shouting "Remember!".

    1. I was "in my cups" most of the day doing my best to drain a fifth of Barbancourt 5-Star while sadly contemplating the VERY POINT you make, Dave. The reality of current trends makes it damned hard not to be pessimistic about the future of the Republic..

  5. On the day this attack happened I was at home, alone, recovering from major surgery. I happened to be finishing my breakfast and watching the Today Show.
This is what I wrote back in 2011 . . . and is all I can yet remember:

  6. And 14 years later what have we really done to eliminate the threat?

    1. We went to war, then we left, and let it all go back to the way it was. I guess AFG is in better shape than Iraq, but those guys are like cockroaches.
