Plus ça change...*

(Source)

First things first. Up well before dawn (0300) on Tuesday to deliver The Missus Herself to the local aeroporto for an 0600 flight. She was bound for California to visit The WSO's branch of the tribe. With Big Time at sea for a few months, the youngest of the Sarge Clan could use the moral support. Not to mention that everyone loves flying across the entire country on minimal sleep with at least two stops along the way. A very long day for my better half.

As for moi, I spent a long day at work doing a lot of not much on far too little sleep. So finding myself with a bit of time on my hands I spent that in the Neptunus Lex archives over on The Wayback Machine, where I stumbled upon this...
It’s become this kind of strange, reflexive kabuki dance, up there on Capitol Hill. The prez notes that it’s a bright and sunny morning and legions of opponents cry out, “Balderdash! No such thing. Instead it is a dark and stormy night, made worse by this administration’s trampling of our fundamental rights under the Constitution. There. Somewhere.” - Lex
Go and read the whole thing, not that long, comments are there as well.

I sure miss that guy.

The more things change...

* From the French saying "Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose" - "The more things change, the more they stay the same." And yes, I'm tired, thanks for asking. But I least I didn't have to cross the entire country to get that way so I've got that going for me.

  1. Yes sir, the more they stay the same. The heart is desperately wicked, who can know it? We, humans, are prone to weakness.

Hope your best half has an easy trip. I do not envy her. I rode SWA once from Houston to Spokane. I lost count of stops, but it took the whole day. I was young and adventurous back then. I'm not up for that kind of fun anymore. And the drive to Missoula was long and dark...

    1. Yes, the multiple stops are a pain. Though as I get older I like to have at least one stop. Get out and stretch my legs for a bit, get some real food.

  2. Ya..... that's a looong flight across the country let alone with stops. Now that you're a temp bachelor I foresee more scratching, gas passing and walking about the home without pants...........:) The better half is the one that stimulates/expects civilized behavior neh? Now you'll have your cats undivided attention also. I noticed yesterday there's a post about a F15 that had a paint job done up in WWII colors to honor 2nd Lt. David Kingsley's act of giving up his parachute to a fellow crew member, video showing the painting, at taskandpurpose.com/f15-wwii. The result is well-done.

    1. I'll have to check that F-15 story out.

    2. I am sure the cats will make sure he maintains appropriate behavior. Nothing worse than a cat who tells on you. And, yes, I have had a fink cat.

As to men/better half. Men are supposed to be rough and tumble. Given a moral cup, we'd fill it with mud and sludge. The wife is the one that fills it with clear water and good things.

I'd hate to see me as a bachelor. Bleh. The thought doth offend my sensibilities.

    3. Beans as a bachelor? The very thought terrifies me. 😉

  3. Well, I'm sure the Senate will be initiating a major cover-up, should it vote to acquit with no witnesses called; and to prove it, the House will begin impeachment hearings Saturday evening. At the very latest.

After all, it was Trump who has covered up the collision with the Titanic by that submersible recently. Amirite?

    1. No doubt that, a week or two weeks after the Senate tells the House to go reproduce with itself, the House will start new impeachment procedures against President Trump. Feckless fewmets!

  4. Let us hope your wife survives the aluminum petrie dish, and fun times happen at LUSH's abode.

As to Capital Hill... Funny that they've tried to impeach every Republican president from Eisenhower to Trump. But are shocked when we call them on their crimes. Errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

    1. I'd call the Dems members of organized crime, except they're not organized.

    2. Yes they are. Individual republicans can go against the Republican Party and still get funded by the repubs and are pretty assured they'll survive any primary elections.

Dems? Go against the party and they both cut your Dem funds off and will run a candidate against you. They are very organized. Just look at last year's State of the Union address when all the female Dem congresscrittes all dressed alike.

    3. Damn, well you are right, once again. Let's charge 'em under the RICO Act! (Yeah, like there's anyone in DC who'd step up to doing that.)

  5. Good reminder that honest self-reflection is always in order. How do most of us sovereign citizen lizard-apes do when it comes to running the country? How many shenanigans are the three branches getting up to while some of us are diverted by bread and circuses of impeachment and therefore far too busy to dig and scratch and apply scale, context, and perspective? I know I'm doing a much poorer job at carrying my load than I expect of my representatives. Hopefully it's just me!

    Great post Sarge.

    1. Thanks Shaun.

Remember though it's not our job to run the country, we elect people to do that for us while the rest of us build things, farm, ranch, and perform other jobs to keep society running. It is our job, however, to stay informed. Something apparently a lot of lizard-apes ain't that good at.

    2. The low information voter is the bane of the Republic.

  6. Just a totally unscientific observation, but everyone's home I go to seems to have the impeachment on the TV. So I'm guessing (hoping) that us lizard-apes are starting to pay attention. And many are not happy with what they heard from the Dems side. This is going to be an interesting fall...that is my prediction. Of course, I shudder to think about all the robo calls that will torment us...sigh...

    1. Hopefully enough of us are paying attention to reject this nonsense playing out in DC, this absolute farce.

      But I worry.

    2. I continue to ask for just one quick public hanging. No drawing, nor quartering nothing messy. Simply public and of someone who has continued to lie to Congress.

Just be polite... that's all I ask. (For Buck)
