Little Rhody is probably going to get a metric butt ton of snow. Here in Annapolis, less than originally forecast but we might have the extraordinary pain-in-the-ass ice storm, as in freezing rain. Much more to be feared as trees collapse, power lines come down, and cats and dogs start living together! (Shades of the apocalypse!)
The weather guessers are, of course, freaking out, at least trying to get us to freak out.
Back in the day it was about giving us information, these days? Who knows what their game is.
Hates them we does.
Just report the data you a-holes.
Well, enough of that.
Eyes are tired from the drive on Friday, with my eyes I need to keep them lubricated. The drops for my glaucoma dry them up something fierce. And guess what I forgot to do on Friday?
Yup. Forgot to douse the Mk I Mod 0 Eyeball system with Refresh Tears when stopping for fuel/pee/food/stretch-our-legs breaks during the drive. So I'm paying the price on Saturday. Perhaps I need a version of "Bitching Betty" for my car which will periodically announce, "Eyeballs, eyeballs, eyeballs."
Yeah, I need that now. Perhaps Google could add it to their map software. Yeah, that would be great.
I've been awfully lax in the blogging arena lately. Bear with me, inspiration is bound to return at some point. I think the Muse decided to flee the country until this winter storm passes.
That's my story ...
And I'm sticking to it.

Drive safely and batten down the hatches friend.
ReplyDeleteSeems we've got a 3 day discussion up in the lakes region. Shovels at the ready.
Staying hunkered down here. No need to go anywhere.
DeleteJust love the local weather guessers Sarge, they show actual temps for two seconds on the tube and then rush to show "feels like" temps for thirty seconds, have to hype how cold it is.... FLOODS! Fire! FAMINE! Perhaps a check list before starting the return journey home?
ReplyDeleteThe number of ever changing variables in weather prediction is daunting. Hyping the shot in the dark prediction is stupid.
DeleteWell...For once the weather guessers did a pretty good job of predicting. It's 23 degrees out with about 10 mph wind, so the "feels like" is 9. Our street has a nice patina of white and clearish layers on it. There doesn't seem to be anybody moving which is probably good judgement on their part. Our church as well as several others have issued dispensation on attending today.
ReplyDeleteNot going to chance talking about electricity.
I'm enjoying a nice cup of coffee as I look outside. Even our Great Pyrenees go out to do their business and were pawing at the door within a couple of minutes.
So...yeah the weather guessers did a pretty good and accurate job of predicting. Don't get cocky, guys, your correct to wrong ration is still heavily weighed in the wrong direction.
Peace out and hunker down guys. This too shall pass.

Staying indoors is the smart move!
DeleteIndeed, Juvat indoors staying is a prudent way to avoid another bruising encounter with gravity.
DeleteJB
Amen!
DeleteYeah, I keep experimenting with Gravity. Hope to stop someday.

Well ...
DeleteYep, sounds like you need a paczki and no they are not something you drop in your eye. I'll admit though, that could happen.
ReplyDeleteMaybe more than one! (Polish food is awesome.)
DeleteWell, it was predicted to start snowing in my neck as I was too of the woods in NYS about 10ish...it started at 8:35AM. Sigh. So I did a fast grocery shop for Dad as I was too lazy to go out yesterday in the sunshine. However, it has been snowing all morning and into this afternoon like it was wicked late and trying to make up time!! We are supposed to get 12-18 inches here, would not be surprised if it doesn't happen.
ReplyDeleteI have noticed the dry eye syndrome, especially when I drive and have my vents aimed towards my face, and hands, on the steering wheel. So I try to aim the remember to aim the vents elsewhere once my hands are warm.
I am going try making some kimche, as I am supposed to be eating more fermented foods, and several folks I know speak highly of it. So I am scoping out recipes. Any recommendations greatly appreciated.
And happy birthday wishes to the young birthday grand.
It is truly "walk like a penguin" weather as my former boss used to say, short steps instead of long strides, and yaktrax on the shoes to help prevent falls.

Try this website (https://mykoreankitchen.com/kimchi-recipe/) it sounds very much like the way The Missus Herself makes it.
DeleteWe got maybe six to eight down here, hard to tell as the sleet started early and is still going.
Slippery as hell out there!
Walk like a penguin, not walk like an Egyptian, right?
Awesome site!! Thank you!!!
DeleteDefinitely not like an Egyptian :)
Suz
😁
DeleteBy staying indoors you can avoid the ice. I wish some lefties in MN would do that.
