Veni, Vidi, Vici

Vercingétorix devant César
Lionel Royer (PD)
Okay, I did arrive safely, I did see where I was, whether or not I conquered anything (other than the madhouse of the highway) remains to be seen.

Grandsons were happy to see me, once they were done beating the crap out of me.

Good boys, just a bit, shall we say, over eager?

It's good to be back in the Old Line State.

More to come once I recover from the sleep deficit, one thing I will say is that there is virtually no snow in the Annapolis area. I was in winter until I crossed the Delaware.

The Nuke tells me that while we up north were getting hammered with the white, they got mostly rain.

Can't say it bothers me, kinda nice to walk outside and not have to  stare at the ground to see if it's icy.

Kinda nice.

Makes my knee very happy.

  3. That is interesting that there is such a stark cutoff. Is that normal? I really have little really geographical sense of the East Coast; it is sort of a string of vaguely defined coastlines.

    1. It's very normal. When I was young we'd travel down to Sudbury, Massachusetts to visit family friends around Christmas. We'd have a foot on the ground, they might have none, or just a few patches back in the woods. It's not unusual to have lots of snow up in Worcester, about 60 miles north of us, and have temperatures in the 60s in Little Rhody. Lots of little mini-environments in the east.

Don't get me going about lake effect snow in Buffalo, I think they get more snow than Siberia!

  4. Thought that it should be noted that my good friend David Mustar , who posted under the handle "Dakota Viking" passed quietly in his sleep on February 23 2026 , he was an AMERICAN to his core and he will be missed. I was always impressed with this sites open policy and proud ?
[ Hell yeah ! Proud ! ] to see Dave's contributions to the story. JK [ coworker for 20 years on Grave yard LBNL ]

    6. I am truly saddened at news of Dakota Viking's passing. I was very impressed by the quality of his stories, and learned a lot from them.
Please provide link to his obituary or services, especially if there is a place to add comments.
      Darn shame, it is.

  5. Strange winter. Here in Northern Colorado I had the A/C on in my car. 64° on my deck this morning. High Plains are having grass fires every day.
