Snow Day

Saturday, 07 February 2026

I am taking a snow day.

Maybe I'll make up for it in the spring with two posts on the same day.

Or maybe I'll just let it go.

The snow is slowing down (around the 5 inch mark is my guesstimate) and the temperature is dropping fast. It's already dropped about 15° since the morning. (We're talking about Saturday here as I write.)

Sunday (today as you read) is supposed to be brutally cold when the wind kicks up.

And I can hear the flap on the bathroom exhaust fan flapping now.

Might get sporty out there.

I'll worry about clearing the snow later.

There's no where we have to go, so ...

Sit inside with a hot cuppa and watch the world go by.

No doubt juvat is roasting in the 80s down Texas way, Tuna is suffering through the 60s and 70s in Sandy Eggo, and Beans?

God only knows what the weather in Florida is going to be like.

In the pool one day, frozen palm trees the next, it's crazy down there!

Stay warm.

Ciao!

  4. Winter helps us appreciate 1) shelter, 2) proper clothing, 3) appropriate beverages.( not hankering for iced tea at the moment) and SPRING!

    1. This winter does remind me of being a kid in the 1950s.

    2. In the late '50's we had a 26" of a snow storm. When finish a friend and I went out walking in it. The quiet was astounding except for us out jumping and rolling around in it.

    3. Loved snow when I was a lad, didn't have to shovel it or drive in it. Just got to play in it.

  6. Warm days and cool nights sounds like maple syrup season to me!!
It is a heat wave here in Upstate NY...temp was -9 last night and it's all the way up to 6* this afternoon. Tuesday we are getting a heat wave all the way up to mid 30's!!
I don't mind the cold temps so much, it's the wind blowing all this nice fluffy snow around so that my driveway gets drifted in that bugs me. Good thing I have an all wheel drive car.
    Stay warm!!

    1. Sugaring season isn't that far off here in the northeast.

Yes, the wind blows it all over the place and is a pain. Not to mention that whole "wind chill" thing, which makes it dangerous!

  7. Nothing but rain for most of today. Stay warm!

  8. Well, all those books don't read themselves, so get on it!
If you procrastinate long enough, the neighbors will take pity and take care of some of the snow, so if you read another chapter, that may buy enough time for yet another one later!

Hope that Annapolis area has thawed out.

    1. Snowhenge is still there on the side of the road.

Just finished Blenheim and moving on to Eight Days in May, The Final Collapse of the Third Reich, Ullrich is a superb storyteller. Started that one this morning, so far it's superb!

  9. Last night was in the mid 30's, today it's supposed to be in the high 60's and down to the high 30's, slowly warming up until the next cold front.

Humidity and wind has made the cold seem colder, for some weird reason.

And Al Gore should be sacrificed to a virgin volcano.

    1. Sounds very Florida to me.

Do we really want to give an innocent volcano indigestion?

    2. Sure. As long as it's in Mexico or some other cartel-ridden poophole.
