Where Do We Go From Here?

Winter Sunrise

Not sure where the path will lead in this new year. More blogging? Less blogging? Somewhere in between? I really don't know.

I've been enjoying my time away from the keyboard, playing with the grands and being a grandpa, but eventually we need to head north and return to the "normal" life.

I do intend to spend less time on the web this year. As AI continues to proliferate, the content out there gets less and less reliable.

The powers that be have found yet another way to lie to us.

Surprise, surprise!

Not.

Anyhoo, as the holidays wind down, I don't intend to wind back up again.

But who knows, that can always change.

Enjoy.

Happy New Year!

OAFS Photo
We closed out the old year at Inju Korean BBQ at the Annapolis Mall, one of my favorite eateries in the area. As it was the celebration of The Nuke's natal day, I sprang for the check, at the direction of The Missus Herself. (Hey, I would've paid anyway but she likes to direct me to do such things. It's her nature.)

Whilst dining we discovered that Finnegan (the only face you can see above) is a very big fan of bulgogi¹, something his brother Roberto disdains. The oldest is rather finicky when it comes to his tucker, the youngest's palate is still developing so he's not as picky.

But I digress ...

Lunch was good, the lads retired to Chez Tuttle et Nuke while the ladies went shopping. I was relieved to have been spared that. I mean I know how to shop, I want something, I go to where they sell it, then I buy it. The only place where I can spend time browsing is a book store. Hobby shops back in the day were another, I'd go there just to see what was new and walk out having dropped a hundred bucks or so.

No doubt The Missus Herself is happy that the old school hobby shops are now few and far between. I'm not but ...

Yes, I digress.

2025 is over, 2026 is here and we must, needs be, make the best of it.

Hope your New Year finds you healthy and happy.

Enjoy!

We Laugh, We Weep, We Hope, We Fear ...

So yes, it's 2023, a brand new year. Do I feel different? Do things look different?

No to both questions, however ...

There's always the potential for change, change for the better, it can happen. But not if we ourselves remain set in our ways.

How can we change things for the better? Love each other, respect each other, stop repeating all of the bad crap that is going on, "out there."

There will always be bad stuff, but why bring it up? Constantly.

I have friends and acquaintances who seem to revel in posting bad news and the idiocy of the powers that be on Facebook and on MeWe. Enough is enough. If you can't say something nice ...

Get my drift?

It's a lovely day, I'm with family. That's all that really matters.

The Year
Ella Wheeler Wilcox

What can be said in New Year rhymes,
That’s not been said a thousand times?

The new years come, the old years go,
We know we dream, we dream we know.

We rise up laughing with the light,
We lie down weeping with the night.

We hug the world until it stings,
We curse it then and sigh for wings.

We live, we love, we woo, we wed,
We wreathe our brides, we sheet our dead.

We laugh, we weep, we hope, we fear,
And that’s the burden of the year.
