Not sure where the path will lead in this new year. More blogging? Less blogging? Somewhere in between? I really don't know.
I've been enjoying my time away from the keyboard, playing with the grands and being a grandpa, but eventually we need to head north and return to the "normal" life.
I do intend to spend less time on the web this year. As AI continues to proliferate, the content out there gets less and less reliable.
The powers that be have found yet another way to lie to us.
Surprise, surprise!
Not.
Anyhoo, as the holidays wind down, I don't intend to wind back up again.
But who knows, that can always change.
Enjoy.

You do what's best for you and your family.
ReplyDeleteI've said it before, you've spent half a century marching to the beat of someone else's kettledrum of fish. You should have at least some of your sunset years doing whatever the heck you want to do.
I'm still up in the air vis-à-vis the blogging thing, depends on my mood I guess.
DeleteI'm day to day you could say.
It's your choice, obviously. But we're all adults. Yes, we'll be disappointed if you pull the plug, but we survived for however many decades before you started this, and I'm fair certain sure that we will somehow manage to survive if you stop.
DeleteI hope you continue because I enjoy your work, but my world won't end if you stop.
Good to know. Thanks.
DeleteGood to see you survived into the New Year Sarge, stay in harbor with sails furled so to speak. Might get to see the sun today finally after the last four days of clouds/snow. Rest!
ReplyDeleteRest is good, but activity keeps body and brain alive.
DeleteI will still check in for the occasional new posting.
ReplyDeleteNo decisions have been made yet.
DeleteWell…MY morning wakeup process is (if you must know)
ReplyDelete1) Get up get dressed.
2) Make and pour a cup of coffee
3) Read this blog
4) Take care of the process which shall not be described.
So I’d say this blog is pretty high on the list and I (We) will miss it.
That having been said, you gotta do what you gotta do. I’ll support your decision whichever way it goes!

You might say I'm a "game time decision." That is, if I have something to say, I'll say it, I'm not going to post because I "need" to, only if I want to.
DeleteSarge - Cannot agree with you more on the "less time on the InterWeb" idea. AI is coming to dominate a lot of the social platforms and (I assume) at some point will come for blogs as well if it has not already (media, I assume, is already consumed or on the way there).
ReplyDeleteI will happily consume whatever level of material you put out.
AI has made Facebook a mess, Google's search engine is but a pale shadow of what it once was. Nothing is as it seems.
DeleteQui bono?
Should you decide to blog less, I, for one, will understand, but will miss your daily WOW (words of wisdom) greatly.
ReplyDeleteI retired in '08 and floundered about for almost a year. When the people of America (My Country: I couldn't believe it!) elected a man, who, if you bothered to look into his background which was readily available outside of the newspapers and TV ... OMG!!
I retired !knowing! I had enough between SS. the sale of unneeded properties, and the pelf I had put aside to last my wife well into her nineties (she's over a decade younger than I): I withdrew from just about everything else and began an intense (20 hrs/day) of the economics of the financial markets.
My worst fears became true as the cost of almost everything began to rise: I use the word asymptotically meaning no matter how much money I have, I just can't afford it) and I was able to stay even.
In short, I became a hermit; I felt I needed the focus; I had neither background nor training in finance/economics other than simple bookkeeping. I was correct in my financial predictions, but I now see it was a personal mistake.
Take the time to be with your family; it'll never come 'round again.
Time with family and friends is my number one priority.
DeleteGame time decisions are fine. It's a new game every day.
ReplyDeleteYou have a gift for finding really great images. Combat, camp life, natural scenery, all sorts of stuff.
Today, I assumed it was related to Vermont, or at least looked similar, but the source has some sort of foreign sounding name - perhaps Czech or something. Sure if pretty, so thanks for sharing that.
JB
It's in Slovenia, beautiful image isn't it?
DeleteIt IS a new game every day.
We shall... see... Writing's in your blood and you use this blog as your canvas. And you paint very well. Just don't saw off an ear with a piece of paper or something.
ReplyDeleteOuch!
Delete🤣
Between games, solders to paint, grandkids, hunny-dos, books that need reading, grass to cut, snow to move & cars to wash there is one additional thing to remember...
ReplyDelete"Today is the first day of the rest of your life".
Very true.
DeleteAnd it might be the last.
Live in the moment!
Next to my front door is a sign I see every time I come home, "Don't count the days, make the days count". That reminds me that, big or small or in between, there is always something of value to be done. Without a "misses" to remind me, the burden is mostly mine.
ReplyDeleteI like that.
DeleteCrusty Old TV Tech here. Happy New Year again. One day, the financials will let me follow you into that great land known as "Retirement", but not today, I am afraid. Your vignettes of war and its people have been much appreciated, and if the muse still tickles, I am confident there will be more electrons committed to telling tales. But, family comes first, and I find the older I get, the longer I must recharge from dealing with others before I am once again family-centered. The wick must be turned down from time to time, so the coal oil lasts!
ReplyDeleteIndeed it does!
DeleteYou could go to a regularly scheduled once a week or twice a week event, and when the news hits you you write, and then publish on those days. In might relieve some pressure, and alleviate you from the wish to post daily.
ReplyDeleteI don't do schedules, not ever again. I'll write when it moves me. Which is often.
