Squirrel!
Well, sure. As I was saying, The Chant (as some like to call it) has grown since those early days. First Tuna, then Juvat, and (officially, though she hasn't posted yet) LUSH came on board to assist Your Humble Scribe in his peripatetic efforts to entertain and perhaps educate The Chant's legion of readers*. (How many people in a legion, less than a horde, more than a handful? Don't automatically think Roman legion either.)
But I digress.
So we've been doing this for six years, seventy-two months if you will (which I did). This is the 2,461st post published and while there are a number lying about the studio in "draft" status, many of those will never see the light of day. For various reasons. A couple have seen the light of day but were pulled off the line. One by Blogger as some yahoo claimed I used one of "his pictures." When I asked, "Which one?" the silence was deafening. Another was pulled due to its being a spam magnet.
And yes, want to anger me to nearly unreasonable levels? Use fractured English in your spam comment and make sure you use the word "fastidious," and never use it correctly. But hey, getting spam comments means we're now in the "big time," right?
2,191 days, 2,461 posts. Still going strong. (For certain values of "strong.")
Anyhoo, I'm still having fun with this blogging thing and expect to continue for the foreseeable future.
And you have no one to blame but yourselves.
Er, I mean, thanks!
* If I count yesterday's guest post from Thomas Jefferson. can I claim the third President as a contributor? Excuse me while I go look up "presumptuous" in the dictionary...
I'm end for the long haul. Youse guys educate, teach and entertain me every day. Keep 'em coning.
ReplyDeleteRoger WILCO.
DeleteI only found your blog about two years ago (maybe three?) but I've thoroughly each post and also been well educated on many subjects. I don't know how you keep coming up with so many ideas to write about each week but I hope you never get bored or tired of posting!
ReplyDeleteSometimes I have no idea what I'm going to post about until I sit down in front of the computer. There's always something.
Delete"fast**", eh? That sounds like a challenge. But alas, while it did bring an evil smirk to my lips, today's client demands prevent firing of the glint in my eye necessary to rise to the occasion.
ReplyDelete72 months at more than a post a day? That's great! Glad you're keeping it up!

L.J.
Hahaha! I knew that someone would take that as a challenge.
DeleteCongratulations to all, this is the first site I check every morning. So many posts, a lot of thought and effort and the result shows! My thanks to all of you.
ReplyDeleteWe try. Thanks for sticking with us!
DeleteHappy Blogiversary! Most have trouble getting past the 3- and 7-year marks; you're doing fine so far. :) Keep it up, and we'll keep reading!
ReplyDeleteJust when I think it's going to be a slog, I find something interesting to write about.
DeleteThanks Paul.
Adding Thomas Jefferson to the Masthead would be very fastidious of you. Just sayin'
ReplyDeleteI think pretentious is the word you're looking for.
Delete;)
If TJ had voluntarily submitted to the Chant it might be legit to hang his portrait on the masthead.
ReplyDeleteI I was up for the challenge, but since my side of the world doesn’t see daylight until... well, you know.
Hahaha!
DeleteCongrats, keep it up! (Butt, when are "da Panzers" returning??
ReplyDeleteHhmm, good question. I have been itching to do some fiction. Stay tuned.
DeleteBetter fastidious than fastidiot!
ReplyDelete😉
Hahaha! Very true.
DeleteCongratulations! Your blog keeps us on edge, happy, learned, and feisty! Plus beverages are served, right?
ReplyDeleteWhat, you missed the beverage cart?
DeleteDagnabit, Sarge! I read your headline and couldn't move on until I'd done the math. Now I have a headache. Thanks a lot!
ReplyDeleteAnd just as soon as I can find my calculator, I'll know how much to congratulate you for...
It's all part of my cunning plan Proof!
DeleteCongrats. It's a fine blog you've got here with great posts that keeps us coming back for more.
ReplyDeleteThanks Aaron!
DeleteDoes it keep you out of the bars?
ReplyDeleteJust kidding, I enjoy reading your blog.
Well yes, it keeps me out of bars. Sort of...
DeleteThanks WSF.
For a second there Sarge, judging by that picture of the F-18, I was wondering if the Blues had extended a tour to 72 months. Thankfully reason prevailed.
ReplyDeleteHeh, didn't think of that. My mind works that way at times.
DeleteOK, so I am a bit slow some days, but I do try to get here daily and have for a little over a year. So I am glad you are going to continue to put electrons to screen because, yes, I have been amused, educated, and have greatly enjoyed everyone's contributions. Congrats on the anniversary.
ReplyDeleteDo hope you didn't get blown away or buried under with the last nor'easter. 4 in 4 weeks has got to be some sort of record.
The last, so-called nor'easter was, at least in our neck of the woods, full of sound and fury. Signifying nothing.
DeleteThe snow started out all blustery and nasty, then turned to flurries and eventually a light rain. The folks further south had it much worse. I'm rather glad we missed out on that one.
Oh, and thanks for reading. 😉
I can not improve upon my comment of yesterday. Your writing ( and the other bloggers at this site ) never fail to brighten my day and make me happy I've visited here.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the post.
Paul L. Quandt
Thanks Paul, that means a lot.
DeleteSarge/
ReplyDeleteNot only is your joint a fine thing in and for itself and much to be appreciated but I also stop by not only for your fine writing, but for the solace I derive from seeing survivors from Lex's commentariat stop by as well--like seeing old friends and triggering fond memories..
PS: I would have said :"your literary Emporium" but considering the raffish crowd that hangs out here I thought "joint" was more reflective
Deletethe kind of characters we are.. :)
Thanks Virgil. I too take solace from having some of the old mob stop by from time to time.
Delete"Raffish crowd..."
DeleteI like it.
Congrats, Sarge. I second VX's comments above. A refuge for Lex's admirers, it is.
ReplyDeleteJohn Blackshoe
Thanks John. I know after Lex passed, I needed something to fill that void. This, such as it is, helps.
DeleteI thoroughly enjoy your blog. I even watched most of the ceremonies around the Colorado! Nice to see Americans that are proud of their work, their country and their military. I see so much "progressive" BS coming out of your fair land that your blog gives me some hope that there are still people with brains and a sense of history and purpose over there. Congratulations. Stewart Hawkins, Auckland, New Zealand.
ReplyDeleteWhy thanks Stewart, good to know that we have a Kiwi on board. I've always been impressed with your fair land and its people. Had the honor to spend time with some of your lads in the Philippines back in 1980. Your Air Force was flying the A-4 at the time, the lads were proud of their little jets and maintained them well!
DeleteOur media does us a disservice with our friends in other lands. They do not speak for the majority.
Glad to be part of the team.
ReplyDeleteCouldn't have continued without you Tuna, thanks for manning an oar!
Deleteahem, that's my squirrel.
ReplyDeleteBut, but, he followed me home.
DeleteHey Old AfSarge;
ReplyDeleteYep, I drop in on a regular basis and blogging is therapeutic, keeps me out of FB jail and other things, LOL
Heh, FB jail. Lot of that going around.
