Tomorrow as I write (today as you read) is the monthly get together with my two bestest friends for breakfast. I always enjoy getting together with them. Alas, the time with them passes like Christmas morning, much anticipated, but over far too fast. Sigh, there's always next month ...
But I'd rather have those brief moments once a month then never see them again. Yes, there are days I miss working with them, it's almost a physical pain, but then I remember all the corporate nonsense that flowed around us and sometimes spilled into the lab. That I most certainly do not miss.
Would I go back? For them I would.
Read the folks on the sidebar, kiss your children, enjoy the day.
I'll be back.

Glad to hear the Missus is back home.
ReplyDelete'Tis good.
DeleteWe were oohing and aahing this week over the last rose on the front wall of our house. If we'd been younger we'd have climbed a ladder and had a sniff. There are a couple in the back garden: should we bring them in for the kitchen table? Perhaps we will if the rain stops.
ReplyDeleteThose little roses in the photo have such an incredible fragrance.
DeleteEnjoy the breakfast Sarge, the temp here yesterday reached 72 setting a record for the day. Yard work is all done........let the white stuff fly!
ReplyDelete31 degrees this AM, frost everywhere!
DeleteThank you for sharing Sarge! I hope you have a wonderful breakfast.
ReplyDeleteIt was sublime.
DeleteEnjoy what you can every chance you get. I dropped two pine trees that got hit by lightening yesterday. It is mostly cleaned up. Our first cold snap is almost over here in south Georgia. I burned two wheel barrow loads of 4 year old oak and cherry for three nights. It is very dry and burns fast and hot. I have 2 more wheel barrow loads to burn before I get to last years cuttings. It is supposed to be near 80 tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteEvery chance indeed, never know what tomorrow brings.
DeleteWe're having typical N. California fall weather. Last week we had highs near 90, and highs in the low 60. One day with 2" of rain. Supposed to be partially cloudy today and near 70. Tomorrow forecast an inch of rain and low 60s.
ReplyDeleteTraditions keep us grounded. Even new traditions.
Enjoy your breakfast. Whatchya gonna have? SOS and bitter black coffee?
Farmstead eggs Benedict,, maple sausage, home fries, and excellent coffee. I never drink my coffee black, unless I have no choice. (In the field sure, but that was a LONG time ago.)
Delete40’s and fifties in our section of the Lone Star State. Our deciduous trees are starting.. to change color. Beautiful while it lasts, but they are definitely the harbinger of colder weather. Looking forward to spring.
ReplyDeletejuvat
Our deciduous, except the oaks, have mostly shed their autumn finery. Bare sticks until spring.
DeletePretty flowers, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYup, old man Winter is skulking about, waiting to announce his presence with a vengeance. It's been unseasonably warm for several weeks here on the frontier mountains, and skiers are starting to grumble, but drivers are happy. Yard work pretty much done- was declared done a few days ago, but high winds and neighbors trees revised and extended the necessary work. Bah, humbug- but the new leaf blower/mulcher is really good!
JB
Leaf blower/mulcher? Do tell.
DeleteI'm feeling smug because my wife and I have just cleared the back garden. Spring in my part of the UK was a bit meh but we had rain, summer was different, warm tending to hot on a few days and very little rain from June to August. The garden was brown by the end of July. As a result we had a steady leaf drop through August -September. The other thing was that we had rain in September and a very mild October, the spring bulbs are emerging and a winter flowering clematis that should flower Jan-Mar is now in full bloom having looked dead in August. On the other hand the vineyards in the South of England are saying its a good year. I just hope we get a good cold snap this winter and not the grey goop of a winter we've had recently.

It is a good feeling getting that job done. Your weather sounds very non-British!
