Still Alive

OAFS Photo
So I'm still reveling in my sloth, my desire to do absolutely not much, my need (if you will) to be completely unproductive.

And, of course, enjoying every minute of it.

If you look at the photo above, to the right, you will notice the 12 foot tall skeleton advancing from the bushes towards the street in front of Chez Nuke et Tuttle. I didn't notice it when I arrived on Sunday. Good thing too, it would have freaked me out.

But grandson Roberto briefed me on that scary individual before I stumbled upon him on my own. It's pretty impressive, even has eyes that will track your movements.

Weird, and scary. Just the thing a six year old boy would find fascinating.

As for me?

Started watching a series on Netflix, The Diplomat. Not bad, rather entertaining.

Life goes on, The Missus Herself is in the air as I write this, returning to the continental US from Korea. She'll spend some more time with her Stateside sisters then come back to me next week.

Damn, I miss her.

The knee is better, not great, but healing. Such are the perils of aging. Things which would heal in days now take months. Oh well, better'n being dead I suppose.

Carry on.

Finally! "So I'm still reveling in my sloth, my desire to do absolutely not much, my need (if you will) to be completely unproductive."

Embrace that sloth! Take it out for lunch, buy it drinks.

You have half a century of service to others, time to take the time to smell the bacon cooking on the campfire, watch the sunset as you sop your evening fortified coffee.

    1. There are days that I feel shockingly useless.

  2. Enjoy it Sir, you earned it. Having nothing scheduled or needed to be done is a very good thing! If all I accomplish today is to read a book, walk my dog, listen to a bit of music and cook some chow, I 'm a happy camper.

    1. This took me a couple of years in my retirement to understand this.

    2. Dave64 #1 - I have ever been averse to schedules. Not having one is nice, to say the least.

    3. Dave64 #2 - I'm approaching the end of my 2nd year of retirement, so understanding is, perhaps, dawning.

  3. Just want to point out that sloth is NOT a four letter word Sarge.....:)

  4. Sarge - If by "Sloth" you mean "enjoying your retirement", then sloth away. Besides, that knee is not going to heal itself with a lot of activity.

    1. Good point, I shall accept the advice and drive on. In a sloth-like manner, of course.

  5. Still alive is a pretty low bar Sarge! How about "Soon to be thriving" since the missus returns soon? And besides- visiting the GKs is hardly sloth-like and it's now your favorite job for the most part. - Tuna

    1. Feeling like a dunsel. That's all. Enthusiasm is lacking when the kids are in school.

Just be polite... that's all I ask. (For Buck)
Can't be nice, go somewhere else...
