Time to visit The Nuke again. It's Finnegan's 2nd birthday.
And hey, I'm retired, I've got the time.
Read the folks on the sidebar.
Play nice with each other. At least try.
Keep an eye on the pilots and aviators, they tend to get into the liquor cabinet and "forget" to replenish it. Though I'm sure they'll get around to it someday.
Be back soon, but I gotta pack, then I gotta drive.
Hopefully, the weather cooperates!
Talk quietly among yourselves.
Ciao!
Reading this post the mind goes to Animal House......."ROAD TRIP!!".......although the reason is Family Time. Enjoy Sarge, safe travels.
ReplyDeleteWe arrived with no problems. Other than the glare of our local star, travel was easy, traffic was moderate. A good day!
DeleteMAN!!! You're really throwing yourself into the "I'm retired and I can do what I want, when I want!" with a vengeance! Good for you!
ReplyDeleteWe'll make sure that the place isn't burned down. Gouged eyes and torn off ears will be handed back to the rightful owners, liquor bottles will be topped off with colored water to the same level at which they started.
I am going all out with this retirement thing.
DeleteWait? What?
Colored water?
Safe travels...
ReplyDeleteThanks, Rob!
DeleteSay Hello to the family from the gang! Have fun and drive safe!
ReplyDeletejuvat
Greetings have been offered, the grandsons are enjoying beating me up.
DeleteI may need Marines!
Of course Sarge, no need to worry about us! (Carefully slides matches and gasoline can out of sight...)
ReplyDeleteHave a great time and enjoy! You have earned it!
All right you clowns. Who gave TB matches?
DeleteI know you read a lot, I mean A LOT. Since your new found freedom allows more time motoring about the country, I hope you are multi-tasking by putting those road hours to good use getting more edjumacated. Lots of really great books out there in audio format. Besides being enlightening, they make the time pass more pleasantly, although turning them off in high stress traffic is a good safety move.
ReplyDeleteI've got lots to recommend, but being out of town myself right now, no time to list them. Many libraries have the audio books available for check out, and you can download some from various places.
Fiction thrillers by Vince Flynn, Alex Berensen (yes, the vax guy), Daniel Silva or Brad Thor are good. C.J. Box's "Joe Picket" Wyoming Game Warden series are excellent (and will remind you of Wyoming/Colorado culture). Most of these are authors interviewed by Hugh Hewitt.
I have some good non-fiction to recommend, but not right now.
Safe travels- there are crazy people out there.

Audio books, I hesitate. What if the reader has an annoying voice? (Said the guy who has watched too many movies dubbed in foreign tongues. John Wayne with a high-pitched Japanese voice. I'm still scarred.) 🤣
DeleteYeah, not all readers are loveable, but just like a movie or TV show, if it doesn't make it fun for you, hit the OFF button and do something else. As they told the kid about the cereal "Try it, you'll like it."
DeleteJB
One of these days I'll give it a shot.
