I was in high school when that movie came out, and we actually took a two-part field trip - one to see the movie, and the other to the actual battlefield.
Those were pretty much the best two days of my highschool career.
Agreed. Considering the actor, perhaps that is to be expected. I thought the role of wacko Master Sergeant McKinney in the movie "Cadence" fit him to a tee.
I somewhat caught that the first few times I have seen this movie. It was a bit more apparent in this clip. I don't think it was a "They" more than an actor's chosen portrayal of the figure. I think he channeled some toned down "Stillson" instead of trying for a Gentleman "Willard" I'm sure that using a big name actor comes with it's own challenges
Berenger's portrayal of Longstreet was probably more accurate
Great Movie overall.....
sorry, I won't have a goggle account and don't have a url

ReplyDeleteHey, look...I might be first today...

Awesome!
DeleteIt is a VERY good movie!
ReplyDeleteConcur!
DeleteI am glad that you kept yourself to under 100 characters, typed. I hope that you are feeling somewhat better and the frustration has disappeared.
ReplyDeleteAmazing all the things you need two hands for!
DeleteThey actually showed that movie at CGSC or SAMS while we were studying the battle. Hope you're feeling better and able to sleep.
ReplyDeleteIt's a bit of a challenge, but doable.
DeleteNow all you need is that Dragon software that they were peddling for years. Funny, I haven't heard or seen their commercials for the last few years.
ReplyDeleteYes, a good movie. Proves that one can strive for historical accuracy while making a good story.
Now if all of the King Arthur or Robin Hood remakes would take a clue from this movie and strive for at least some historical accuracy...
Hahaha!
DeleteSorry, the historian in me got a chuckle when you used King Arthur, Robin Hood and "historical" in the same sentence.
All that being said, I know what you mean.
Legends, we must remember, are based on real people and real events.
DeleteThere was a Troy.
There probably was a 'Gilgamesh-ish' dude who inspired the Gilgamesh myth.
Same with King Arthur and Robin Hood. Folk heroes based on real people. Maybe not the right real people, but...
And the Minoan civilization was probably the inspiration for the Atlantis myth.
So...
I feel ya. Not literally of course...
DeleteGood movie but I think they made Lee look like a madman..
ReplyDeleteYes, a little over the top.

Jack
my 2 cents
Not a problem, Jack. Thanks for commenting!
DeleteTom Berenger is one of my favorite actors. His portrayal of Teddy Roosevelt was superb.
