The new series of Vignettes has not proven to be very popular. Now I don't do this for the hits a post may (or may not) generate, but in order to motivate me to write, I expect the stuff to be read.
That doesn't seem to be the case at the moment. So ...
Thanksgiving approaches and The Missus Herself and Your Humble Scribe will be heading north to celebrate with my Mom and my kid brother. As Mom is now 94 and not very mobile, my brother made the decision to move in with her. A good call as he's retired already and she needs to have someone around.
On the downside, Mom no longer has a spare room for us to camp out in. So we're going to hotel it for the first time ever. On the upside, my nephew manages a hotel. So ...
Going up for a couple of days, it'll be nice, not sure how many holidays Mom has left. So it makes sense to go there.
While it would be nice to go hang with the grandsons in Maryland, they're at an age where the grandparents are still fun to hang out with, I feel a familial obligation to head north.
We'll be spending Christmas in Maryland though, that much I'm sure of.
With me being retired by then, it'll be nice not having to worry about rushing back home to get a couple of "relaxation" days before going back to work.
Because that ain't happening next year.
Uh uh.
I'll try and get creative later.
We'll see.
I don't wish to complain about the free ice cream but I enjoyed what you have written so far.

DeleteThanks, James. I started writing another installment but came up short. Hits might be down because people are sick of the election drivel which seems to infect the internet lately. So they stay offline. Can't say I blame them. I may have just run out of gas for the moment.

I think a lot of us are somewhat burned out with all the election stuff, especially waiting for the House results, and so are somewhat lethargic about everything other than necessity.
ReplyDeleteI was enjoying the new direction your Muse had taken, especially with some of the similarities to other timelines you have given us.Taken all together you could publish an anthology, "War, No Matter How Much Things Change...." as a tribute to the BPI and what High Ranking Idjits inflict on them.
I see that the AP has finally noted that the Republics got to 218 in the House. Others were calling that a few days ago.

DeleteSarge, if it is any consolation my views have been down over the last week as well. It could very well just be post-election exhaustion. But yes, it is hard to write when it is not being read and even harder when the idea does not seem to go anywhere (I am selfishly sad of course, because I enjoy that era, but anything you write is grand).

I believe the Air Force, at least back when it was a fighting outfit, not a sociology petri dish with bad costumes, had a tradition of scantily clad artwork on public display on their aircraft. Along with more family friendly cartoon characters, some bad puns, and assorted threatening images. But, that was all banished lest someone might be offended that the rough men who stand ready to violence on their behalf are “Single men in barricks [sic] [who] don't grow into plaster saints."
DeleteAnd those guys actually sang songs not appropriate for the Chapel. Let alone the cadence or "Jody" calls.
There is a lot out there which has been quietly suppressed, but those who know, know.
