Political Post-Mortem

First I will say God Blessed America.  Yes, you read that correctly.  We're blessed with a leader who, despite his flaws, loves this country.  We, and he, have dodged a bullet.  Last Tuesday things went the way I hoped, the way I prayed, the way this country needed them to go, - all of it, even the half that doesn't realize it, and we have avoided an agenda that appeared to be focused on anything but America First.  More like America last.  I commented on Sarge's post-election post that I've been putting together a post-mortem on what happened to the VP's campaign and why she was so thoroughly defeated.  So here goes with some observations and an assessment on what happened.

1. Middle America no longer trusts the press.

That's not a new revelation.  The trust in them has been withering for several years, probably starting back during the Bush Admin when the left began a unwavering campaign of hate, and the media abandoned whatever sense of fairness and journalistic integrity it once had.  It got worse during COVID, and them parroting the lies that Big Pharma, the FDA, and the left threw at us, making them all suspect, and part of a leftist cabal, from then on.  So when they echo the lies, broadcast the hate (Nazi, Racist, Bigot, Misogynist) we see it for what it is- a tactic to damage a former President, a current candidate, and someone at least half the country wants to rehire.

On that note, Social Media and podcasts are the new Main Stream Media - it has allowed a wider range of voices that are able to be heard above multi-million dollar media and political campaigns.  Social Media is asymmetric warfare, the IED or tiny drone against a Humvee or tank.  Which is why they want to control it against the bogus threat of misinformation.

2. Middle America is tired of the coastal woke elitist agenda that they spout from their ivory towers.  Struggling people don't care about gender fluidity, DEI, protecting 3rd trimester abortions, green agendas, or bogus white collar charges and convictions, when all they really want is an answer to how their real problems will be fixed.

3. Minorities are fed up with the oppression caused by the so-called "progressive" mindset.  For the most-part they know they are being pandered to.  They didn't ask for, or need white liberal women creating terms like Latinx.   And the ones that just keep their head down and work hard, don't want to be told that they're being held back by systemic racism.  That their white friends and neighbors have some sort of inherent privilege unafforded to them, and that the only way they can succeed is by being labeled a victim and given handouts.

4. Pollsters are laughable.  Polling is highly inaccurate- either too small of a focus group, too focused in a location with inherent biases or in Dem strongholds, or just wrong.  People don't always want to say when they support a certain side, a candidate, or an issue.  We're free to, and essentially forced to, keep our opinions private, especially when the opposing side has proven to be angry, retaliatory, and often absolutely unhinged.  I supported Trump, but my car was keyed in 2020 with a Trump sign in my window, even in my polite and relatively affluent neighborhood.  The fact that the vote so heavily favored Trump, including the popular vote, shows just how much the polls were wrong, or the media picks and chooses what they tell us.

5.  The left provided no real vision, no plan, or what they stand for.  No slogan to get behind or support- only "We're not Trump."  Their actions seemed frenetic, disparate, desperate, and reactionary, vice clear, concise and inspiring.  MAGA is a slogan helping people remember what was good, how things have been in the past, but the left tried to use it as a slur.  That either offended or alienated those that want a better America once again.  "We're not Trump" was not enough when people are faced with real problems, problems the anti-Trumpers were heavily responsible for.

6.  They can't "read the room."  Kamala and the Democrats refused to step into the shoes of the average American, or come down to their level, which Trump did consistently, including some political stunts that showed he cared (garbage truck and fry cook).  They refused or were unable to understand just how bad things are.  Media, pundits, the DNC- they're all paid well, and they aren't hurting like real Americans.  Their ivory towers are too high to see the struggle or feel the pain every American is experiencing with the higher and higher costs of living.

7.  Defections made a difference.  When many "Never-Trumpers" became red-pilled, when they saw how they were treated by the left when they refused to keep drinking the kool-aid and they went against the narrative, they changed.  I'm talking about Trump's new friends in J.D. Vance, Elon Musk, RFK Jr., LTC Tulsi Gabbard, and Joe Rogan.  These are significant voices that have clout, followers, and respect.  So when they came around it was noticed by the public and made an impact- increasing the understanding of what Trump meant to people, how his positions are actually fairly moderate, and this increased the level of respect afforded him and Republicans, and that maybe we're not all uncaring evil rich people.  There are also some other former critics like Ana Kasparian from the Young Turks who unleashed her disgust for what she now sees as liberal intolerance.  The Teamsters, Jeff Bezos and the NY Times, dozens of other papers all either backing Trump or shockingly refusing to back Harris were more huge rocks in the pond.  Several Hollywood stars have also come out in support.  They now realize how Republicans have been unfairly characterized and they've dropped their disdain for the right.

8.  The Border.  Not much more needs to be said.  It's wide open, crime is rampant, tax dollars are paying the criminal invaders quite handsomely, all while people are hurting.  When the Dems refused to back a bill banning illegals from voting, the veil was shattered.  Americans know it was all a plot to increase votes for the left.

9.  11th hour reveals or October surprises were seen as desperate attempts of a failing campaign.  A disgraced former General and staffer claiming Trump wanted Nazi generals, resurrecting old and debunked "suckers and losers" accusations, Walz linking a Madison Square Garden rally to a Nazi rally there almost a century ago, telling women to lie to their husbands about voting for Kamala (as if they would beat their wives if they didn't vote for Trump) all smacked as weak attempts to gain support.

10.  Poll watchers.  Elon's $100 million per day pledge to keep the vote secure probably prevented the election shenanigans, aka felony election interference, that happened in 2020.  Yes, that's the political 3rd rail accusation, but I don't believe their gas lighting for a second.  Biden getting 82 million votes when he didn't even campaign is laughable.  That's almost 20M more than previous elections.  See the video below- 48:10 mark if it doesn't start there.  I know I'm not the only one who believes this.  The fact that there were many actual videos of ballot harvesting, when they stopped the count and kicked everyone out, yet still continued counting, a supposed watermain leak, the immediate spike in the vote for Biden at 2am, the never-explained nor investigated video of a woman pulling ballots out from under a table, are all damning circumstantial evidence imho.

From the video- Joe Rogan's epiphany moment:
“Look at the difference in how many people voted for Biden in 2020. It's unprecedented! It's way higher than any other time since 2012.”
“Look at where the number is. It's all like 65 million [votes for Dems in 2012, 2016, and 2024]. So that is all the same every f—king time except 2020. In 2020, it goes way the f—k up.”
And probably the most significant factor:

11.  Kamala Harris was just a bad candidate.  Everyone knew she was a DEI or Nepo-ish pick everywhere she's been- from law school, San Francisco city hall, California's AG, Senate and VP- all examples of her failing up.  She was not chosen by the people, she was hand picked by a deaf, dumb, and blind DNC, in a coup planned by soon to be former power brokers (Pelosi, Obama, Shumer) leading the charge.  Apparently Democracy was at such risk that they had to cancel it this election season.

While there may have been a big DEI push going on in the country the past several years, America is a country based on merit- if you want something, you better damn well earn it.  She didn't even try.  Her interviews were eye-opening and embarrassing, no prep whatsoever, she overly relied on a friendly MSM to go easy on her.  She didn't have the intellectual rigor to handle questions that her team should have known would be asked.  And when asked basic questions about her policies, such as how she'd reduce inflation, she showed that she didn't even understand the basics about the problems America was facing.  She backstopped an 80-something year old doddering President for 4 years!  They should have been prepping her for the very real possibility that he might not make it to the finish line, even if they weren't planning on her running for his spot.

Some questions for the next four years-  Will the left, the DNC, the Dem politicians come to some realization about these points?  Will they wake up and do some soul searching?  I'm thinking not likely.  This is a post-mortem, but they could have done a biopsy over a year ago which would have given them the same result; shown how far and deep the symptoms of a failing party had spread.  But either they ignored it, ignoring a clearly and deeply diminished Biden, or they intentionally kept him in charge to maintain their free reign of leftist power.  They gas lighted us on how bad he really was, but we were not fooled for a minute.

I don't see them having a "come to Jesus"¹ moment as they quickly went on the attack after the loss, blaming Biden for not leaving² earlier, blaming minorities, blaming uneducated white women, which is itself an insult that was missed on them, blaming anyone except themselves and their completely unlikable candidate.  Will they get back to basics and their traditional issues and demographics?  I don't know, but I don't think so.  We're not the America of 50, or even 20 years ago.  The parties have changed, The left has been co-opted by the extreme left side of their party, which may be small, but is incredibly vocal, and closer to communist than ever before.  The GOP is more like the Democrat party my mom was a member of in her youth.  Although even that's changing under Trump.  US demographics have changed, we're actually far richer of a populace than we were even 20 years ago, and all the world's info is at our fingertips.

The GOP reform party that Trump is leading right now will gain respect and members.  The left will still have their vocal fringes that demand attention like some fat crying baby in the corner- feed it and it still cries.  America is getting tired of whiners though and the left is so full of them that we'll see more epiphanies, red-pills, and a shift towards a stronger right.

Trump is our new President, and it's time for the left to wake up and take their pill.  Many already have.

Yeah, she's Canadian, but it's a nice version nevertheless.

¹Come to Jesus?  Do they even believe in him?
² Leaving?  He didn't leave, they stabbed him right in the chest after the debate, which is when they realized they couldn't continue their Weekend at Bernie's charade.

  1. I would like to add 3 things from the independent voter block which decided the election since they will shift their votes.
12 - People are tired and hate the law fare. You win, you loose, you move on to the next time. Continuing to beat on the looser is bad. The democrats should have shunned Trump never mentioning his name after 2020 but they can't help themselves.
13 - DEI has worked over the years. Now everyone is an individual person and not a block. Treating all minorities the same is just demeaning to people now and all people can be anywhere in the socio-economic scale and will vote for their own interests.
14 - You have to run a good candidate, the party anointing someone means nothing. Each party is no longer monolithic.

  2. Tuna, excellent SITREP, my friend. One minor quibble, Trump is not “our new President”, that happens on January 20th. May the Lord keep him safe until then as well as his actual term in office. Frankly, I have no trust in the left whatsoever. I fully believe they’re capable of trying something incredibly stupid. If that happens, May the Lord help us all!

On a happier note, Mrs J has put together a wine cruise on the Rhine, Main and Mosel rivers in Germany. We’ll be in Europe for the next two weeks. Connectivity is supposed to be good, so I will attempt to post. We shall see what we shall see.

    1. Agree with all points, Juvat; though I'd recommend taking the time on the rivers all on wine-time. Either the country will be here when you get back or the left will have done more stupid things, but there will be enough of us to sort that out.
Like you, I pray for President Trump's safety; they may keep trying.

  3. Excellent analysis. I would have put Point 2 as Point 1, but that's a matter of personal taste. The Harris campaign was based on :
Twice impeached, 34 times convicted felon!
We will protect abortion through the 4th Trimester!
National Abortion Ban no matter what!
    January 6th!
If you don't vote for us you're RAAAACist!

Addressing those, I think even those who kept up the mantra of Impeached! and Convicted Felon! knew that those were proaganda and a show trial that would have made Lavrenti Pavlovice green with envy.
Most Americans, even thouse who support abortion in the first trimestger, realize that the pro-abortion side has gone too far in allowing babies to be aborted as long as the head hasn't crowned, and that there is, an will not be a "natiional abortion ban," and that all the overturning of Roe did was kick it back to the Free and Independent States.

Many of us look at the January 6th incident and know that a few hundred idiots were no serious threat to the certification of the 2020 election, or a credibla "insurrection" that could sieze power and overturn our Coonstituion. We also remember the outright civil war that was waged by Democrats against our republic starting in the late Spring of 2016 and continuing through 2020. OK, the 2014 BLM riots might have been opening skirmishes, maybe to ready the troops for the coming civil war, but those incidnets between 2014 and 2016 were not the continuous, violent attacks on the foundations of the United States that we saw against Trump from 2016 on.

Just for laughs my wife and I binge watched CNN from Tuesday night through about noon on Friday. GOOD GAWDS AND LITTLE POLITICIAN!!! It was a continuous think tank session for the DNC. Through it all were the usual lies and distortions. I don't think through Thursday there was even one discussion in every segment that didn't bring up "Impeached!" and "Convicted Felon!" The dismissive attitude that you pointed out about "uneducated" people voting against their own interestes was prominent, with the unspoken message that "uneducated" is exactly the same as "stupid." One of the talking heads almost got it, when he brought up some bar grapsh about income, and pointed out that most of the decision making for the DNC came from a little bubble around DC, and virtually everyone in that group of decision makers was making $250,000 or more per year - I think that was the number - and were out of touch with and disconnected from the average American making less than $75,000 per year.

But none of them really got it. Got that the vast middle class was tired of being blamed for things that happened 100 years ago, and more. Blamed for every soical ill and every failure by people of color. Tired of seeing schools turn out students who couldn't read, couldn't do basic aritmatic, knew nothing about our history (other than that all white people want to be slave owners and that all blacks must always be victims). but, BY GOLLY!!! they could put a condom on with their mouths and knew all about the joys of same sex sex.

There will be a week or two of intense introspection, as there was after the 2016 election, but then it will go away and the tantrum started in 2016, and which never really stopped, will be back in full screaming splendor. I'm already seeing that, the CNN garbage I've been watching was not so much introspection as point blame - at "undeduated women," at "uneducated blacks," at "uneducated pick-yoiur-minority-victim-group" who voted against their own best interests. Cooperation during this administration? As sure as I believe in the Niceno-Constantinopolitan Creed, l believe that the Democrats in Congress will be boat anchors and saboteurs, doing everything in their power to block every GOP sponsored bill. I also expect that the first day Congress meets next year Democrats will try to introduce new bills of impeachment against Trump. They will never forgive his crime of beating Hillary in 2016. He robbed her of her turn at being president.

    1. Well put, Joe! The term "uneducated" can be translated into " unindoctrinated "; how dare those garbage people think for themselves!
I saw a great thought a bit ago; " More women buy groceries more often than they have abortions". Yet my wife's college bunch ( she and ONE other are the exceptions) are all spouting all of the usual commie talking points; they absolute refuse to learn or see virtue in other viewpoints. We are a divided country and will likely remain so; it's in the left's interest for us to be so as they continue their quest for the power to destroy our Republic.

    2. Great comments Joe, all of what you said show how they didn't have a plan, they're only plan was to not be Trump and to be propagandists against him, instead of giving us a candidate that people liked or could support. No policies, no direction, no charisma, just more of the swampy stuff coming out of DC that have been hurting people for the last 4 years.

  5. Well done Tuna.

The change in media sources snd the democratization of it are a huge shift. "The Media" no longer has a lock on what people learn or see. This, j my mind, is a huge shift.

The easiest thing in the world to cement this is for The Future Resident to simply deliver on his agenda. Deeds speak louder than words. If I had a wish for "The Right", it would be to ignore the shenanigans and antics of the Left and just go about building a better world. They thrive on attention; deny it to them.

You are completely correct when you say most folks are just simply tired of the whining/wailing/gnashing of teeth that is now going on and of the temper tantrums/finger pointing/screaming at the top of lungs of orange man bad that was going on prior to Tuesday. "Because!!" isn't an acceptable answer from a teen-ager when having a discussion, it certainly isn't acceptable from supposed mature responsible adults. I want details/specifics as to why someone/thing is not good or right. Until you can calm down and speak rationally, you can go to your room and take some time out.
But then, I am a mean, grumpy gramma. I am tired of the Left's BS, and seriously want some items of concern addressed by folks we sent to DC to WORK FOR US!! Fingers crossed that DJT can right the ship and get us back on a smooth course again.

  8. Crusty Old TV Tech here. Dittos Tuna. Megadittos.

Maybe now we can consider ripping the FCC apart root and branch. "The FCC Crusty??? Why them?" Well, if you think about the role played by the broadcast media up till now in curating information disseminated nationally, it becomes obvious. The Communication Act of 1934 may have made some small sense in 1934, at least the spectrum allocation part, but today? It's a relic of the "progressive" era, like gangster Cadillacs with running boards. Return the FCC to merely a spectrum allocation clearinghouse for individual state use, and for international agreements for longer wavelengths (AM/Shortwave, etc.) that can potentially cause international interference. Why does Washington have a role in granting a license for a transmitter in Peoria that has a range of say 60 miles, tops? That gives them power over who's message gets out.

  12. I'll add this.

Don't piss off a sitting president who was removed as a candidate. Potato-Head Joe, for all his issues, seemed rather furiously pissed about being removed by a coup conducted by a cabal of high-power DNC operatives. No normal person was involved. And President Biden seemed very peeved and vindictive. The 'putting on the Trump hat' stunt, knowingly calling Trump supporters 'garbage,' all seemed to me to be calculated moves aimed at undermining his Veep.

I bet the DNC is kicking itself in the collective arse for now thinking maybe they should have stayed with the Potato-in-Chief and then had him step down after the election.

We, as a nation, really dodged a bullet.

We, as a world, really really dodged a bullet. Already both Putin and Zelinsky are talking about slowing their roll and seeking peace. Putin has put Russian Oil back onto the US Dollar. Hamas is backpedaling. And so much more. Just from Trump winning.

Now all we have to put up with is the eternal 'reeeeeeeeeeing' from the perpetually offended class.

As to national issues, seems that the Abortion issue was killed off in several states, including my beloved Florida.

Same with legalization of Marijuana, that was a very dead issue here in Florida. Big Weed spent $170 million to get 30% approval. That's gotta sting. Unfortunately this means we'll see that garbage on the next state election, and the next, and the next...

So... How's California handling some of the issues they voted for?

There is nothing good that can not and must not be leveled. There is nothing so nice that it can't be despoiled and there is nothing you should be allowed to do to interfere with their great plan. Sadly, their great plan's fruition can be seen in the old Soviet Union, Venezuela and more and more in western Europe today. They cannot ever admit that there are things that are notoriously and historically diabolically wrong for any civilized society if it means to survive as such. HMS

  15. Another point might be that the Democratic candidates were utterly humorless and depressingly serious. Trump's rallies were part rock concert and part circus. Though there was serious political rhetoric, everyone was having fun and came away feeling good. And they forgot Trump was a successful showman. His McDonald's gig and his arrival riding shotgun in a garbage truck for a rally were brilliant. They dominated the MSM media news (with indignant hostile coverage for days drawing even more [free] publicity). Again fun, funny, and real.
