Ok Campers, time for the weekly housing progress. The first project, my brother's home, is coming along quite well.
The weather seal has been applied and windows installed. I believe I heard the crew chief (I know...an Air Force term) told us that the next step was electricity and water. Nope today, they are starting plumbing and HVAC. Probably which skillset persons are available. But, regardless in the installation series, progress is continuing. After that and a couple of other exterior to interior connections, they should start working on the internal walls and stuff. In fact, an update yesterday whte this story posted, they were. So, making progress.
Which is good!
The next project now in progress is the horse barn. We'd like to get the horses out of the boarding stable and here where it's a bit shadier, a larger area to roam around in and...a heckuva lot cheaper to maintain. So...
The stall hardware has been delivered and should be assembled and welded to the building by this time next week.
Yep, the first sight of progress on the main house is in place. Lumber (or at least SOME lumber) has been delivered. So framing should begin sometime soon. At least that's the assumption.
We shall see what will be!

Your brother's home is starting to look like a house now juvat, man.....there are some trees awfully close to his house and the horse barn.

DeleteOriginal completion date was mid-December. Our Construction guy has updated that to Mid April. So, Sorry, No room available at the time. Besides our rental has 2 Beds, Our Master and a single that the dogs use, so....

From the pictures it seems the contractors are policing the inevitable trash generated by construction. To me, that always reflect the quality of the work being performed.

DeleteYeah, I think they're doing a pretty good job all round. We've been out to the site every couple of days. The team leads have all been very nice and answer all our questions with good information even if it is a bit of a setback. They also explain that and how they're going to handle it. The overall foreman is also a good man and seems to be running things smoothly. He did have to extend the construction schedule til April, but explained to us what the issues are. We're disappointed, but understand a well built home is better than a quick built home. So....

Bro house looking good, even has some siding (Hardy board?) up, so exterior should finish up fast.

Big house looks like they are about to sprout soon. December seemd a bit unrealistic, but April seems quite possible, assuming the owner refrains from making a lot of changes....

DeleteYeah, the missus and us went and picked paint colors and wood stain today. So, Thant shouldn't be an interruption. They're certainly not quite ready to paint yet. As to the horse barn, the concrete is only on the right as you are looking at the door in the picture. The tack room will be walled in on the far corner, Feed, Hay and the like go in there, so walls and door so horses can't get in. The rest of that concrete slab side will be to store tools and equipment (mower, tractor (small), small electric tools and hand tools.
Mrs J. is very busy with the contractor making sure he and she are on the same sheet of music, So, April may very well be realistic, I certainly hope so.

Progress though, is progress. But it's not like they can make up for lost time once they get airborne is it?

DeleteYeah a bit discouraging. But at least he fessed up soon enough to extend our rental lease. If he’d waited a couple of months our landlord would have started advertising the rental and we’d be out on the street. So…glad he told us. We explained our postponed circumstances so…Hopefully …
