I Kicked Monday's Butt!

How I thought Monday was going to go...
After determining that the strange noise was indeed my alarm clock, I struggled to climb out of bed and try to figure out a few things:
  • Who the hell set my alarm?
  • Why?
  • What day is this?
  • Is vacation over?
  • Do I have to actually go back to work after two weeks off?
Of course, though truth be told it took a while, the answers were clear:
  • I did.
  • Why not!
  • Monday.
  • Yes.
  • Yes.
Once I got that sorted out. I got ready for work.

Then I fed the felines. (Why is that species so darn chipper at 6 AM?)

Got in the car, stopped at Dunkin' Donuts and got my coffee. (Things are looking up already.)

Stopped and got fuel for Big Girl.

Drove to work in a miserable foggy drizzle of a day.

I'm thinking that things are really going to suck today!

But oddly enough, once I was back in the saddle, I felt kinda like this -

And when all was said and done, here's what I did to Monday on this first working day of January in the Year of Our Lord Two-thousand and Fourteen -

Oh yeah. I kicked a$$ today.

But I'm not looking forward to the rematch.

Mondays can be sneaky ba$tard$!

  1. Okay, now that I've stopped laughing long enough (have to inhale, sometime), I have an secondary question about "chipper" cats at 6 a.m.: aren't they supposed to be nocturnal?

    1. Cats are, typically, nocturnal.

We have two cats who sleep in shifts.

So one is always on watch.

However, when they hear me stir, it's like sounding "mess call" over the 1MC. All it takes is a shift in my position and they are both wide awake and ready for action. I think they enjoy hearing me groan...

    2. Cats can be so irritated by the lethargic performance of their staff that they feel the urge to encourage said staff.

    3. That has to be the reason.

My early morning performance in the cat-feeding area has been substandard of late. Guess I need to step it up!

    1. Yup, hit the ground, bounced two or three times, then started running.

But it was way less sucky than I expected. Though right now I'm a little leery of Tuesday, maybe Monday was a trap?

  3. Monday? Whazzat? One day's the same as the next, innit?

    1. I need to remember to put these things in terms that a retiree can comprehend.

      Mes excuses...

      Heh.

Just be polite... that's all I ask. (For Buck)
Can't be nice, go somewhere else...
