Is The Dream Over?

A dream died here...
(Source)
Family legend has it that one of ours died at Culloden, fighting for Bonnie Prince Charlie. Or perhaps he marched with Johnny Cope? Legends aren't always that clear. But the dream of the Stuarts died on that field. Perhaps better for Scotland in the long run, perhaps not.

Dreams often die in blood.

Current events have me holding my breath. What's happening in the streets of some of our cities is nothing more than insurrection, sedition, and treason. I didn't care for the last occupant of the White House, I'm not a big fan of the current one. I am heartily sick of having to choose between the lesser of two evils.

Unless things change and change quickly, I fear that there will be blood.

Will there be nothing here but war?

Sorry, but it's depressed about the whole mess I am. Perhaps I'll go have a wee dram and think happy thoughts.

But I'll keep my musket handy.

  1. What those people are pushing, and what most parts of media and most local, state, and federal government are embracing, is 100 percent marxist ideology. In all of those individual minds is the notion that after the revolution they'll be of the nomenklatura, and everybody else -- well, you can't make an omelet without breaking hundreds of millions of eggs. Sucks to be an expended egg, but so what?

That said, what can one do? No one can change those people and what they do, not as an individual anyway. All a person can do is: 1) check ones thoughts, ideas and motives and see if they match up with the only humanist philosophy which will ever work -- the First Principle and all that follows. 2) check ones facts and put them in appropriate context according to reality, scale, and perspective.

Those two things are really, really hard. The marxist narrative is ubiquitous and pervasive. Those who watch teevee, read newspapers, and peruse the wonderwebz are constantly being hammered by the narrative. For people who think they're immune to brainwashing, particularly if they think of themselves as being smarter than the average prole, that's a VERY BAD SIGN.

If a person ever accepts anything as factual without double checking the sources and veracity of the claim, and without putting checked facts into proper scale and perspective, they've just been brainwashed.

A lot of things are broken, but until people get a factual handle on whats broke and what isn't, the busted stuff cannot be fixed, nor can the working stuff be shored up.

Since more than 90 percent of Americans seem to believe that they're safe and secure and destined to hang out with the one percent who become the nomenklatura, things aren't looking so hot right now. Just keep in mind that to earn a visa to Valhalla, a person has to be a pure warrior, and they have to be carried into the hall by enough personally vanquished enemies.

    1. Determining what's broken isn't easy give that most elements of the main stream media have become the propaganda ministry for whatever belief system one holds dear. I don't listen anymore, I'm aware but I ignore the details which are, for the post part, disinformation. Intentional lies meant to sway one's opinions. It's disheartening and scary.

    2. Intentional lies that are treated as the truth by those that hear them. The Press have been serving their masters well. The curious thing about the lies, is that upon just a short period of reflection, their falsehood becomes quite apparent. yet, self imposed censorship by the people lied to, seems to activate.

This, I believe, is because the entertainment media has been pushing the idea for decades, that the ideas put forth by the lies, are the idea set of the cool, and the chic. Combined with the horrific job of education being inflicted on kids for the same several decades, leaves a population of young to early middle age people who have only a very tenuous grip on their self esteem. They have been told for most, if not all their lives how special they are, yet they know in their hearts, that they have done nothing to deserve the self esteem they have been told that they deserve. Therefore, they will instinctively grasp the message put forth, that this is how the worthy think, think this way, and you, too will be worthy.

The education system, as it has currently devolved, makes sure that the kids not only are not provided with the knowledge that will allow them to discern the lies, but that they will not have the tools available to them to seek out the knowledge. One of my favorite nephews was subjected to whole language, rather than phonics, by the Stevens Point School District. The young man, a recent high school graduate, hates reading, as he was basically never taught how to do so. Eric is a staggeringly bright young man, as befits the son of a Orthopedic Surgeon. But he hates reading, because he really can't do it well. Whole Language has done this to a whole generation of kids, and we are now reaping what was sown. Millions of people who can only read well enough to find videos on you tube. People who get their news from Steve Colbert.

I, too am very distressed by where we are headed. But I sometimes wonder if it is too late. There are too many that are quite happy with subsistence living on the dole, as long as they have free time to drink and smoke.

  2. I fear there will be blood. In a way it is already happening here in California with the recent events at UC Berkley and the violence perpetrated when ever a conservative is scheduled to speak. The damage is always done to the local community.
Out here in the Kern County Desert, things are calm. I do live in a town with a large "entitlement class" population largely due to the prison we have on the Northeast outskirts of the city. Be sure that my trusty law firms of OF Mossberg and Son, Mosin Nagant and Lee Enfield stand ready.

    1. And now the governor has declared that those who pay for all of that free crap are freeloaders. I fear that a reckoning is close, it won't be pretty, it won't be bloodless, and I doubt we'll even recognize our country once we get through it.

    2. Yet we may. This could be the watering of the Tree of Liberty that Jefferson wrote of.

  3. We're definitely on the same page! And I really fear for my grandkids!!! This is from my Thursday post and I fear that we are on the same path that has happened to many nations over the course of history: "From bondage to spiritual faith; From spiritual faith to great courage; From courage to liberty; From liberty to abundance; From abundance to selfishness; From selfishness to apathy; From apathy to dependence; From dependence back into bondage."

I will share a couple of drams with you from here.

    1. And that's a great quote right there.

      Pass that bottle won't you?

  4. I'm about done with both parties. My only real question is to silently slip out the back door or stand on the table, raise a finger and scream the heartiest "FU" I can on the way out. There's no accountability any longer in the institutions that have made themselves essential to the operation of the country. WaPo, NYT and the Networks publish outright lies with no responsibility whatsoever. The electorate can't function under those circumstances. I think we're past the point of "what should government do?" and racing to the brick wall of "either we eliminate these programs or collapse..." The next election's gonna be interesting, that's for sure.

  5. I have started to think that only an external threat ( think space aliens ) can save the human species from destruction.

  6. Hmmm, dark thoughts, indeed.

    But...

Consider what are two of the most popular book/movie franchises for young adults in the last 20 years. 'Harry Potter' and the 'Hunger Games.'

'Harry Potter' is about standing up to evil that most people ignore, and also standing up to government corruption and over-regulation. And that anything worth living for is worth fighting for and dying for. Funny coming from a Brit, but maybe the Anglo-Saxon and Norman spirits still run strong in that kingdom.

'Hunger Games' is all about how the rich and powerful 'Capital District,' with all of its useless and beautiful people, mistreats all the working and production districts. And how the Capital people basically kill and suppress the Country people. And the inevitable uprising that follows.... (And I was very heartened when I heard, during a showing of the 2nd movie, some liberal kid loudly ask it's commie parental unit if the 'Capital District' was Washington DC. Lots of snickers by other parents.)

The city centers are lost for now, but maybe with the new administration and the harsher prosecution and sentencing for drug and gun crimes coming down the line, hope may reappear before we wall off sections and are forced to slosh the city natives with 'Martinis' as the colonial British used to say...

    1. Those are things to make one a bit more optimistic. Thanks for pointing those out Andrew.

    2. Remember the stupid show that made Michael J. Fox famous? On the show his parents were brain-dead zombie liberals. His character, on the other hand, was a staunch conservative who believed Nixon got shafted.

So, the generational flip-flop has existed before. Just not recently has it been so polarized. My GenX friends tend to be grasshoppers politically, while the pre-millennials tend to be shifting towards survival-based conservatives (including wanting to buy old cars so they can fix them themselves...)

I try to have hope for the future.

  7. What I see is a world wide economic stagnation. We may have a sudden dramatic collapse, but a slow one is more likely. We may already be in the beginning. What happens to society is anyone's guess.

  8. I have personally apologized for what my generation and I have left for our grandchildren although I'm not sure they know or care about what we had. As a whole, they have been distracted and indoctrinated. I don't think I will live to see the complete demise but at 70+, I have no "bug out" plans should we see the anarchy I think will come. Not trying to sound dramatic but should it happen my plan is "die in place." Should that occur, I hope to adapt the Ranger method and go in ankle high hot brass. I think we tried to save our Republic and our children and, in my case, grandchildren but maybe not hard enough. I fear we failed but damn, it was good while it lasted. Maudlinly and respectfully, Alemaster
