It's not easy...Even when he's not one of yours

My sister called earlier today from work and asked if we would check on her dogs.  The eldest one, Bristol, had been a little listless this morning.

So, we did.

Found him on the living room, gasping for breath.  Packed him up and drove him to the Vet.

She said there was nothing she could do.

Well....Crap.  As Sarge said a week or so ago, he was a good dog.

  3. Man, that sucks.

Our first dog, a half-Newfoundland/half-German Shepherd (Newfie sire jumped the fence of the GSD dam) would always come running out of the house to greet us when we came home.

The last day, she ran out, greeted her mom, and collapsed at mom's feet. Heart attack, stayed alive long enough to get to vet emergency visit, where the rudest vet in the world was rude to my wife over having to put our dog down.

What you experienced just... sucks. There's no way around it. Sucky suck times. And for his mom to not be there? Sucks even more.

Sorry for your sister and you and the K9 flights.

Dogs and cats, part of your family. Part of you. When we lost Liesl, my hand kept wandering down between us where she used to lay. Swear I could feel her. Still miss both of the dogs. But now we have the Italian spaztallion, so life goes on..

    Still sucks.

You and yours are in our hearts.

    1. Well... it wasn’t mine, it was my sister’s. Still her dogs are her life. Also, this one was my favorite. So yeah, not easy.

  6. My deepest condolences. Our kitties and pups are family members, and losing one hurts.
