It's All Too Much

(Source)
Taylor Hawkins of the Foo Fighters has died ...

This band has been a huge part of my life for a decade, now everything is in the wind.

I need some time to process this ...

My creativity has flown.

Please bear with me.

Cold day in the sun indeed ...

RIP Taylor, see you on the other side, man.

  1. While I have never followed this band, other bands important to me have lost key members over the years, so I understand and sympathize with your feeling of loss. No matter who they get as replacement, It is never quite the same.
What is it with rock and roll drummers? It seems like they should get hazard pay or something because of their frequent death or disability. One of the bands I have written to you about, Nightwish, lost their long time drummer due to chronic and crippling insomnia. Only one of many.

  2. Something like this happens it's a gut punch all right. One never knows what's happening in another's life, my condolences Sarge.

  3. While I never "Got Into" their music I appreciated their talent and love of music in general. I've gone down Utube rabbit holes, watching them playing with audience members invited onstage, and guest musicians. They always seem to have fun playing. Maybe I'll have to revisit some of those.
Take your time... We'll be here.

    1. They interact with the audience in ways that warm the hearts of their fans.

  4. Ouch. It really bites to hear news of someone who gave so many people so much joy by music die...
And as we age ourselves we hear it inevitably more and more as our idols of youth inevitably succumb to the ravages of time...

  6. Sarge, the death of artists that somehow contribute to our lives can impact us in ways that others do not. The speak to us in ways that often others can or do not.

  7. Ok... 4 hours later I'm still watching Foo Fighters Vids. I forgot about their covers... Goes back to to their love of music. Truly a fun band.

  9. The feeling is much to take in. I empathize and understand. Some of my favorites have gone (Jon Lord from Deep Purple comes immediately to mind.) All the more so when they are as relatively young as Hawkins. God bless.

  11. I saw the news on my cell phone when I got back to the hotel in Seekonk Saturday night, (Hampton Inn, highly recommended!!) and thought immediately of you. I remember you saying he was a hero of yours due to his talent with his drums.

I am so sorry for your loss.

    1. They were (are?) incredible live, saw them in Boston four years ago with my youngest. An incredible experience.

  13. Some you just have to see live... the studio can't capture the magic.
