Well…THAT didn't go well!

There we are!… Headed to College Station. Had some business to attend to vis a vis new home.  We’re on cruise control which is set to speed of traffic(about 75. Yes Beans, it also matches the number on the Speed Limit sign).

In any case,Cruise Control is on, Map on the phone show route to MBD and family’s home.

Life is good! Mrs J had bought some jalapeño sausage and some jalapeño cheese @ Bucees! Pretty tasty!

Sausage and cheese has been consumed. Started to feel a bit of heart burn. No big deal.

Except the heartburn is getting worse. we make the last highway change and we’ll be “home” in about 10 minutes. I’m starting to feel a bit woozy.  It’s getting worse fast. I click the button to turn off cruise.

About this time the world starts spinning, I hit the brakes and start looking for an off ramp.

Unfortunately, I become unconcious. The last thing I remember is Mrs J yelling something.

The next thing I remember, I’m opening Mrs J’s door and let her out. I look at the truck, The engine compartment. It’s squashed against a pile of rocks.  Did you know that an Apple watch will call the nearest emergency response team and tell them where the accident is?

Less than 10 minutes later the ambulance is here. I’ve got several sensors attached to me. Medicine has been administered. And I’m having an IV installed..

Trip to the hospital was uneventful. Both Mrs J and I were sent to the ER. About 15 minutes later she comes in to my treatment room. Nothing serious.

Thank You Lord!

I unfortunately am not so lucky.

XX-rays, and other scanning devices were used and I’m shown to my hospital room, I’m still there as of Sunday. Diagnosis has Fractured sternum , neck issues as well as heart beat issues

Hospital room is assigned, been 3 days at time of posting this.  Haven’t been able to sleep much and my usual sleeping habit of rolling over has proven to be a tad painful.

I am a bit nervous. Looks like the tentative go home date and moving date two are getting pretty close.

We shall see what will be.

P.S. I’m in a hospital ER writing this on my iPad with no external key board. Not responsible for splling errors and sentences tHat make no cents.

Peace out y’all.  Oh and drive carefully!

    1. Could be, they’re still running tests. On e agatn i think the Apple watch was a big factor in the situation ambulance and law enforcement were on site in ~10 minute from impact. (The truck clocked stoppd on impact, i looked at my watch as they pulled up.later when they showed me the report I asked who had called and showed me the record. I am an Apple fan now for some reason)

    1. My intention exactly. While my guardian angel was a couplie of seconds behind to avoid the accident he did do a good job of keeping me from blacking out too long so I could get Mrs J out of the truck.
Last night was a piece of work between the to and from visits to run tests that I needed, the people coming in to check why one ot mor sensors isn’t reporting and most importantly, the video of the accident recorded by my eyes and stored in my brain, didn’t sleep much longer than the pill allowed. Not that I’m complaining about it, There was an opportunity to take an eternally long nap.
      That one’s coming soon enough!

    1. It’s implied in that statement. The status of the vehicle is unimportant. If it’s operable enough to make it to parking. It’ not, but you and yours are, it’s good.

  14. Oh my!!! A-fib can be a real bear!! Thank goodness you and Mrs J are doing okay. And, yes, at a certain age, ya just have to say 'We will pay someone else to do this!!" Stress not being a good thing with cardiac issues. Prayers up for continued improvement!!

    Suz
PS: Question: Can your Apple watch tell you if you are have a spell of A-fib? Or V-tach? Or is that an app that can be turned on? If so, maybe do a quick check before getting behind the wheel next time? Don't have any idea, but it would be cool to find out if that's an option...

  15. I am so sorry that this is happening right now and to you - my digital buddy and family. You know of course, that prayers are up for a quick (if possible) recovery. As for the heart stuff. I have been living with Afib for years now. They finally started me on some kind of pills for it. I have no symptoms except to anxiety when I read "Afib" on my watch or another device I have. They also put a pacemaker in me (yes, IN ME, through my artery, into the heart and screwed it in, using a tiny corkscrew looking thing). About as big as an inch of a number two pencil. It works great to keep my heart rate above 50 BPM. Slow, strong heartbeat used to come in handy at times.
I pray that the Lord will take away your anxiety and give you peace and confidence in His sovereign will.

  17. WOW! Quite a clever way to push Apple watch sales, but sure glad you had one. Delighted you and Mrs J are walking away from this landing, and prepping for future (less exciting) adventures.

Thank God for the wonderful medical folks we have these days, including the first responder types who haul busted butts back to where the really skilled folks work their magic.

Prayer of gratitude up for the first part of this show, and for future acts to be far less exciting.
