Well, It's Alright

The Buckeye, The WSO, and Me
(Pensacola, July 2008)
There is much that is wrong with the world. We read about it every day. What can we do about it? I dunno, my best guess (and advice) is to do your job. Be a citizen, be informed, get out there in the world and make a difference. A positive difference.

Do what you can, when you can, as often as you can to make this country a force for good in the world.

Don't let the slackers, the moaners, the groaners, and the whiners get you down. It's what they want. I'm not going to say, "don't worry, be happy," (and Lord knows I'm not gonna try and sing it) but hey, cheer up America! Let's fight back against the snowflakes, the addlepated, and the ignorant. Do you want to be special? Earn it buttercup.

I've probably posted that video before, I'll probably post it again in the future. 'S okay, I like it.

Anybody else miss these guys?

I do...

Hey, it is Friday...

    1. Hey Danica! How the heck are ya?

How's flight school? Good to hear from you, The WSO (aka LUSH) will be thrilled you chimed in here. Me too! :)

  2. Danica knows more about how blogs work than Valory (HSWHTPFIHC), which may be a good thing?

    Did you know about THIS?
...and it's in ruins because of John Birch.

Thank goodness for the innerwebs or we'd never learn anything new.
    ...and TGIf!!!

    1. Heh. You in trouble now!

I did not know about the eponymous castle. The only members of my tribe carrying that name live here in the States, the original family name was "Gaudry," if certain newspaper accounts and family scribes can be believed.

You mention that "we'd never learn anything new" if it weren't for the web of world-wideness but (HSWHTPFIHC) do you realize the number of books we'd need access to, or the staff we'd need in order to get information which now lies at our fingertips? And all we have to do is "Google" it. (No one ever "Bings" it, funny innit?)

  3. I agree. Sometimes, it's just best to relax and let the dolts go about their business. Then when things calm down and you can make a difference, step back in.

  4. You can always post videos of the Traveling Wilburys! One of my favorite groups
and yes, I do miss them. And your timing is uncanny, the Wilburys are what I was
playing on my iPod this morning as I headed down to the VA hospital in Kansas City.

    1. I was in the mood for Traveling Wilburys, it happens. Man, they were good!

    2. Yes they were. Each one was a great musician in their own right
      and the combination was perfect!

  5. In that photo, WSO seems to project some "attitude", or is it just confidence?

    1. And the WSO knows the correct wear of the "p1$$ cutter" cap. Sharp officer, she. Congrats, Alemaster

  6. My favorite song by the Wilburys? "Tweeter and the Monkey Man" sung by Dylan. In the right mood with enough liquid "relaxer" I can listen to it on repeat all day/night..

  7. Great post, and how cool that Danica chimed in. You've provided a few glimpses behind the curtain of today's navy which make me feel a lot better about the state of my beloved service.

As for the wheel-berries, great music but I always detect the flavor or tortured souls. Music stardom seems a tough path.

    1. I feel pretty good about Navy. 'Tis the Air Force which concerns me.

Ah yes, tortured souls. I often think that you can't be artist without one!

Just be polite... that's all I ask. (For Buck)
