Juvat, Beans, Tuna, and maybe even LUSH are standing by to regale you with their stories, anecdotes, rants, raves, and remembrances of times gone by.
I might squeeze in a comment now and again, provided the discomfort ain't too much. Those who have had their eyes operated upon tell me it's a possibility. Again, we shall see. (An expression I am no doubt far too fond of, punny that.) After all, lying on my belly I can still, by propping myself up on my elbows, still use my cell phone. But with the wee virtual keyboard and only the one eye in battery, that might be wishful thinking.
Ah well.
Stay frosty my friends. When there is nothing more to say, I post a video. An old Foo Fighters tune (of course) performed live somewhere in Germany. With Spanish subtitles, it's very cosmopolitan we are here at The Chant. Official lyrics follow the video.
See you on the other side of this surgical adventure.
"M.I.A"
Written By Dave Grohl, Nate Mendel & Taylor Hawkins
Call and I'll answer at home in the lost and found
You say that I'm much too proud
Someone who's taking pleasure in breaking down
Never mind the mannequins, drunk in their hollow town
Drinking their spoils down
Cheap imitations
The revelation is now
You won't find me I'm going MIA
Tonight I'm leaving going MIA
Getting lost in you again is better than being numb
Counting every minute till the feeling comes crashing down
Run when it hits the ground
I'm good at escaping
But better at flaking out
Calling unanswered the center becomes blown out
Stuck in the inside now
It's fear I'm embracing
I never could face you down
You won't find me I'm going MIA
Tonight I'm leaving going MIA
Getting lost in you again is better than being numb
Red, red, laced around your head
Cold and rescued, cold and rescued
Cold and rescued, cold and rescued
Cold and rescued, cold and rescued now
Call and I'll answer at home in the lost and found
You say that I'm much too proud
Someone who's taking pleasure in breaking down
Yeah, you won't find me I'm going MIA
Tonight I'm leaving going MIA
So you won't find me I'm going MIA
Tonight I'm free I'm going MIA
I can find relief I'm going MIA
So you won't find me I'm going MIA
Getting lost in you again is better than being numb
Better than being numb
Better than playing dumb
My continued best wishes and thoughts are with you, my friend.
ReplyDeleteTo your swift recovery.
Paul L. Quandt
Thank you Paul. (Again, glad you're back in the fold.)
DeletePrayers for a surgeon's steady hands and a successful procedure Sarge....oh, those fingers will stay crossed,eh?
ReplyDeleteThanks Nylon12. Glad you're by my side.
DeleteO Lord Jesus Christ our God, Who did patiently endure the scourging and wounding of Your most holy Body, that You might save the souls and bodies of Your people, look graciously, we beseech You, upon the suffering body of this Your servant and give him strength to endure patiently whatsoever You shall see fit to lay upon him. Bless the means employed for the working out of his cure, granting that he may so endure his sufferings in the flesh that the wounding of his body may be to avail for the correcting and salvation of his soul, for Yours it is to show mercy and to save, O Christ our God; and to You do we send up Glory, as to Your Eternal Father and Your All‑Holy, Good and Life‑creating Spirit, both now and ever, and to the ages of ages. Amen.
ReplyDeleteIt's why I'm not that stressed about all this. I know that I am in His Hands and that He has a plan for us all.
DeleteHis Will be done.
And thanks Joe, prayer works, I've seen it.
Good luck & hope to see you around again! :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Rob. Good one by the way. ;)
DeleteIf it is anything at all like the patch I had, you won’t want to be seen in public... stylish it isn’t.
ReplyDeleteI might have thought of this sooner... you could have arranged for one of those massage tables with a hole for your face, so you could, theoretically, keep your head down whilst still viewing things.
But then that would be kinda weird.
Nothing but good thoughts and prayers from here (wherever that is).
Good to see PLQ signed in.
Thanks Skip. I looked into the whole massage table thing, did you know that actually make a portable thing you can use sitting up?
DeleteKinda freaked me out it did. Almost like presenting one's neck for the headsman. I'll do whatever the Doc says.
I suggest that you amply imbibe adult beverages today because the medical wizards are probably going to say they are off limits during recuperation. I'll be saying prayers for you (I'm pretty sure that I've still got some mileage remaining on my 10,000 mile rosary guarantee) and we'll all be breathlessly awaiting your return. Just remember that it is in the Master Sergeant's Code that you must be impervious to all threats.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dave. I always appreciate prayers on my behalf. In the days of my wayward youth I'm sure the Good Lord would have said, "Who? Who is this guy?" But as I've returned to the fold, so to speak, I am confident in His Mercy.
DeleteAnd yes, Master Sergeant's Code. Impervious! And yes, an adult beverage (or three) might be in order.
You'll come thru this just fine, Sarge.
ReplyDeleteHugs & prayers going with you.
Thanks BC. Appreciate it greatly!
DeleteWe shall patiently await your return!
ReplyDeleteBadgers are patient, so I've heard.
DeleteThanks Scott.
Well, badgers are patient, until they're not. And a vet I know says badger make bad patients, but are very good at making patients, if you know what I mean.
DeleteHahaha!
DeletePrayers for full and speedy recovery. Take all the time you need. We'll be here whrn you return.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dwight.
DeleteThat's a comfort to know.
Hey Old AfSarge
ReplyDeleteSpeedy recovery on the eyeball, and you need to get a skull and crossbones on the eyepatch, We will hang around until you return....
Thanks MrG, I appreciate it!
DeleteHey, Mr. Garabaldi. If you have it, some off-brand sci-fi channel is running the whole Bab5 series, including the 2-hour preview movie, starting on Oct. 1.
DeleteNice. Amazon Prime has the series. But, but, there are movies? Cool!
DeleteThere's the first movie, which sets up the whole series, and the follow-up series and movies. But, yes, you need, NEEEEEEED to watch the whole thing. I've said it before. WATCH THE DANGED SHOW!
DeleteI have it on my watch list. Just have to pull the trigger on that.
DeleteHey Beans;
DeleteWhat off the wall channel has the B5 series??? and ITB(In the Beginning) was one of the best movies for the series.
Indeed, I would like that information as well!
DeleteI've heard that lasagna, pasta alfredo, chicken parmigiana and other dishes are good for ocular recovery. After all, they're Eye-talian.
ReplyDeleteAnd if your wonderful feline overlords decide to use you like the deck of a jeep carrier, please have the lovely The Missus Herself take a photo and send it to LUSH so that we can make the appropriate comments, please?
Take care of yourself, and don't be afraid to call for help from Herself, just don't overdue it and start acting like a democrat.
See you on the flipside. We'll all be eagerly anticipating for LUSH to comment daily upon your recovery, even if LUSH doesn't get around to doing an actual post, she can at least comment as LUSH... (I hope Big Time doesn't know my actual address...)
Hahaha! (Jeep carrier? Dude, full deck here, just not angled...)
DeleteOne of them already does that. She taxis around on the "roof" until I get up and feed them. If it happens during the day (and I have no doubt it will) then I'll see if The Missus Herself can "take the shot." Which I'll provide to LUSH for the edification and entertainment of all the Chanters.
Well, if you compare the size of the 'planes' to the size of the 'deck', then Jeep Carrier. If you're comparing tonnage, well, then your cats are the feline equivalent of a B-25 or a C-130.
DeletePlus, well, jeep carriers are slow, while fleet carriers are speedy... (ducking and running...)
Heh, well put.
DeleteSending hugs and thoughts and lots of prayers for successful surgery and an easy recovery. ❤
ReplyDeleteThanks Mary!
DeleteAmen to all of the above.... except maybe the Eyetalian food.
ReplyDeleteJohn Blackshoe
Heh.
DeleteThanks John.
Good one Beans, and that sparked my search for "Music to listen to after eye surgery."
ReplyDelete(The internet was a big help)
https://spinditty.com/playlists/Got-My-Eyes-On-You-Playlist-Pop-Rock-and-Country-Songs-About-Eyes
Quite the assortment.
Fair winds and following seas.
Nice list. Though personally I'd go with The Who's Behind Blue Eyes.
DeleteThanks John!
There will probably be some sort of post surgery ointment.
DeleteAlso known as eyes cream.
Ha! They are going to play with the ocular gelato, aren't they?
DeleteJohn - good one.
DeleteBeans - we're in an Italian mood today I see.
Delete+1 to all the good wishes here. I couldn't say it any better. Rest easy, Crowd Control is manned and ready.
ReplyDeleteI thought something to cheer you up might be in order. This worked for me.
The link below is an interesting take on the committee vote. Read it, then click on the video link and go to the 4:40:00 mark as suggested and watch to the end. Fienswine seems to have been completely out maneuvered. Her “WHAT!?” as Senator Grassley drops the final gavel will leave you smiling.
https://voat.co/v/theawakening/2753184
Interesting, but all of that was simply prelude. We need this nomination to go to the full Senate. No more of these charades.
DeleteAnd thanks for the best wishes RHT447, appreciate them a great deal.
Good to know that Crowd Control is in such fine hands. ;)
Best wishes for a successful procedure and speedy recovery. Bill U.
ReplyDeleteThanks Bill!
DeleteYou will be just fine. The Good Lord has been and will continue to hear lots of prayers and out-right begging for you to be restored to 100% operation tuit-suite and has thrown up His Hands saying "All right all ready!! It will be done!" :)
ReplyDeleteSeriously Sarge, we will all be right here awaiting your return. Sending positive thoughts and prayers for speedy recovery your way. Relax, get through it, I feel confident you will be just fine. Indulge the feline staff as they hover claiming large amounts of kitty-quality-time, it helps the healing. Just wash your hands before administering eye drops or ointment or stuff.
Nurse Suz
Sound wisdom. I always listen to the nurses, they know everything!
DeleteThanks Suz.
Best wishes and prayers sent for the operation, Sarge.
ReplyDeleteThanks drjim!
DeleteHere's hoping all goes well! Looking forward to your telling us it was all good and that you're all better!
ReplyDeleteThanks Tom!
DeleteI'm glad you brought up the story aspect of all this. I need to pay attention while I'm conscious, there will be a tale to tell!
