"Say, mate! Where do you report when six months over leave?" (Source) |
"Hier!"
"O'Connell!"
"'Ere, mate."
"Hoffmeister!"
"Hoffmeister, anyone seen Hoffmeister?"
"Entschuldigung, Herr OAFS, ich bin hier."
"Muse!"
"Muse? Where is my Muse?"
"Sigh ..."
"Muse, not bloody Hughes!"
"Sorry OAFS, she's gone for a lark."
"What was that Sullivan?"
"Gone for a lark, Sir, said she'd be back Tuesday. Thought she had a leave chit, Sir."
[Lowers clipboard, shakes head, sighs ...]
"And who authorized that?"
"I did."
[Turns and sees The Missus Herself ...]
"Ah, right then, guess that's okay."
"Wallace!"
"Right here, Sarge."
[Grim look cast in Wallace's direction ...]
"Right, sorry Sir. Here!"
So I'm down in Maryland, young Roberto himself is having a birthday, number three to be precise. So we flew down Thursday eve after work. Flight was not exciting (which I thanked the Good Lord for). Going back Tuesday eve, short visit which is why we flew.
Muse was present on Friday, apparently she needs a bit of a breather. She has been working hard as of late, so there ya go lassie, go out and blow off some steam. I'll slap something together.
Which is what this is.
Juvat up tomorrow.
I might be back Tuesday, have to wait and see if the Muse actually reports back for duty.
Stay frosty!
Guess the Muse figured she needed a bit of a break, especially since a flight out of town signaled a change of pace for you Sarge. Can't go wrong with anything from Zulu......... :)
ReplyDeleteLove that clip.
DeleteSarge, No Worries! Heck, I have a hard enough time coming up with one a week, and I’m not working 40+ pre week.
ReplyDeleteHave a safe fun trip and wish the Birthday Boy a Happy one with many more in the future for me.

Will do!
DeleteI am impressed how productive you and your muse are! A 4-day break of a 3-day weekend and a DONSA (Day Of No Scheduled Activities) gives one a breather from the usual grind. Wishing you and yours a pleasant and relaxing time.
ReplyDelete- Barry
The grind is aptly named.

Brother Heinlein nailed it. He usually did.

Michael - Sound wisdom.
DeleteBG - Agreed!
Delete(looks up with a pained expression) Go! Have Fun! Leave us behind to (sigh, wince) fend for ourselves. We'll manage to sur(wince)vive.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy. Buy Muse a libation or three. She's more than earned it.
Hahaha!
DeleteMuses ... are special. She wants a break, it's best to let her go be inspired as she desires. Some of my biggest disasters were from proceeding without her. "Just doing something" is a trap.
ReplyDeleteI try to avoid that trap.
DeleteAnd, yet, your pithy "I ain't here today" are still better than most other peoples blog postings. (I read quite a few.) One of the nice things about even AWOL is pretty proper grammar. And then humor.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your time, see ya on 2nd Monday.
Roger that.
