I'll take warm and wet over cold and wet any day. But hey, it's not like I have to go out and do anything do I?
I like that.
Odd dream Saturday night, seems I was in the British Army, a major I believe, and had been seconded to the intelligence branch (the dream was sketchy on details).
Spent most of the dream going from office to office, being snarky all the way. Had an Indian gentlemen tell me I couldn't go through a certain door. Which I proceeded to do anyway. He was surprised, said he'd been trying to get through that door for weeks.
Odd that.
I have watched far too much football. But as I watched very little in September and October, I don't feel too badly about that. Hey, I'm retired, right?
Grandkids are a joy, though their energy seems boundless, they do have to sleep some. That's when I recover. The boys keep me hopping, no lie.
Weather was beautiful on Monday, sunny, in the high 50s still. A glorious day.
Had another strange dream on Sunday night. I returned to my former place of employment to discover that they had added miles and miles of corridors but still had the same volume of lab and office space. But it was okay, there were these androgynous androids available to show you around. Their programming was, shall we say, suboptimal. I mean, after all, I wasn't around to help. (No, I don't wish to go back, love the people, hated the direction the job was going in. Seems to be the thought that it doesn't matter if you're ignorant of what the customer wants, as long as you follow the process, then it's all good. Don't follow the process? Then it doesn't matter if you give the customer what they want. You done messed up A-Aron. But that's all behind me now, the doc says that that nervous tic will eventually go away ...)
Life is good, everyone seems happy, I know I am.
Welp, gotta new computer game (What?!?! Another one!!) that I simply have to wring out.
Bloody Nazis are coming through the Ardennes again, only me and my keyboard stand between them and Antwerp.
Be seeing you.
The true beauty of not owning cable or paying for subscriptions is that I can no longer watch football or other sports except soccer and so life has improved by that much already. I liked the process after I figured out how that game was played and the Integrated Product Teams I ran as a program manager were a wonderful out of office and excuse for a darned good lunch with friends and colleagues. One of the nice things about working at a dodgy facility that requires all visitors to submit a clearance request if they want to enter is that we did a lot of stuff, elsewhere, maybe down by the beach or something.... Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Cap'n!
DeleteGood luck with the dreams Sarge, my interpretive skills there are zip, zero, zilch. What with remote work for the last several years it's still nice to NOT to have to leave the homestead when wet/white is coming down, enjoy that.
ReplyDeleteTo me, dreams are the mechanism used by the subconscious to organize, categorize, and store random memories. Of which I have quite a few!
DeleteHave a fine new years eve!
ReplyDeleteYou as well, Rob!
DeleteInteresting dreams. From the little I know of dream interpretation they indicate that you have a deep seated feeling of loss and confusion about your future because of your recently retired state. Or that you want tacos and pizza.
ReplyDeleteNever could keep those straight.
Happy New Year to you and all your kin. And to all here. May God grant us all health, salvation,, and furtherance isn all good works, and preserve and protect us for many years.
Had pizza (maybe that's why the odd dreams), really need tacos at some point. Preferably the kind one gets from a taco truck!
DeleteHah! Am I psycho, or what?
DeletePsycho indeed!
DeleteI think I'd almost be willing to try what you've obviously been smoking after dinner - WOW!
ReplyDeleteBTW: any new meds? they can have that effect for some
Those dreams sound like the beginning of a new novel - WWII SciFi?
Anyhoo - a Happy New Year - to you and yours
Just a lot of new experiences coming my way, the brain is adjusting things, putting things away in boxes if you will.
DeleteHappy New Year, Boron!
Sarge,
ReplyDeleteGreat minds think/dream alike. Last night’s very vivid dream was that I was a B-29 AC flying a mission to bomb Japan. Late in the war as we had P-51 escorts. Very realistic as we droned on and on and on. Nothing happening! Pretty realistic for much of the mission.
Then I woke up! 😗
Here’s a wish to all y’all for a safe, productive and happy New Year in 2025!
juvat
I had to fish you out of the spam filter, who have you angered?
DeleteOTOH, cool dream, I've had some like that.
Happy New Year, juvat, to you and yours!
Juvat- Watch this space for coming attractions. There may be some aircraft of your dreams coming up in a post sometime soon. Wanna fly old warbirds? It can be done if you really want to!
DeleteWhile I admire the machines and the daring youngsters (and oldsters) who fly them, I am quite content to remain at ground level and watch from there.

Thursday. I have insider information. 😎
DeleteI hope that you are truly enjoying the beginning of your liberation, Sarge! Hoping for a healthy, prosperous New Year for all of us.
ReplyDeleteBoat Guy
I am "growing in to" the role. 😎
DeleteHappy New Year, BG!
Sarge, I suspect your subconscious will be clearing stuff out for weeks or months through dreams. Happens to me as well when I leave a job, especially one that had a less than "ideal" work environment.
ReplyDeleteDream Moods (http://dreammoods.com/) is not a terrible website for looking up images in dreams, if that is one's thing. For example, android: "To see or dream that you are an android suggests that you have lost your liveliness and sense of spirit. Your life is becoming to monotonous. Alternatively, the dream indicates that you are acting without thinking."
The androids in the dream were an indication, to me, of my perception that my company is relying more on process and less on thinking. Not good for the long term prospects of the company, the Navy, and the nation. At least in my estimation.
DeleteSorry, no dream analysis from me. I have not stated at a Holiday Inn Express for a while.
ReplyDeleteOne day at a time, charting and changing your course as you and your partner see fit. This vacation seems to be a perfect start for your new lifestyle with family and fun. New games, new books, etc. Of course there are still those drums at home, unless The Missus misplaced them somehow.
Have a safe and leisurely trip home, when you decide to head that way.

One day at a time, that's my motto from here on out. We'll see where we're going when we get there.
DeleteWent to bed last night, so I could do things in the daylight. Stitch came and hopped on the bed, and, that being the kind of cat he is, he snuggled right up against my back, and fell asleep.
ReplyDeleteAs we slept, I would move a little bit in my sleep, and he would snuggle up again, with neither of us waking up. This continued all night long, until I woke up just in time, as I was rolling over the edge of the bed!
Him being a cat, I kind of wonder if he was doing that on purpose, so he could have the entire California Queen bed to himself?
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Be assured, he meant to do that.
DeleteHappy New Year.
Crusty Old TV Tech here. Happy New Year Sarge to you and yours! Hmmm, if Dr Crusty were to interpret, it would seem that either you have been reading too much Asimov, or maybe watched Village of the Damned recently. Those silver haired kids with shiny eyes gave a younger Crusty many very bad nightmares! That, and/or a double anchovy and jalapeno pizza consumed near bedtime! Watch out if someone named R. Daneel Olivaw comes calling.
ReplyDeleteI think androids just freak me out in general.
DeleteThere is something disquieting about them, even Data.
DeleteOh yeah.
