Not the greatest photo, taken through a screened window, but hey, if you want Ansel Adams, you're obviously in the wrong place. Heh.
Today is the first day of 2025, for those of you who weren't paying attention. It's also my first "official" day of retirement, as in, I'm no longer on the payroll of my former employer. Not on the active roll at any rate, now I'm a retired employee.
It was a good gig while it lasted. I can say that I spent 49 years, 7 months, 2 weeks, and 4 days working to defend the United States. Picking what to wear every day was easy in the first part of that time period, the pay was certainly better during the second.
Anyhoo ...
I wish you health, happiness, and prosperity in the new year. May you be blessed and may you be loved. Everything else doesn't really matter.
May God smile upon thee.
Cheers, mates!

ReplyDeleteOAFS, enjoy your retirement. I have been at it now for 7 years and one month. You will not be bored or idle. It will give you more time for your third career as a writer (at least that is what I see in my crystal ball).
Happy New Year, BillB!
DeleteI retired April Fool's Day '08, my OL wasn't all that happy, but after working over 40 years "down in the mouth", I felt I deserved a break.
ReplyDeleteNow, going on 17 years retired, (heh! if you really believe that, I got a bridge in Brooklyn ... I'll let you have it real cheap, too)
Enjoy!!!

DeleteHappy New Year to all who read here!
ReplyDeleteI spent most of yesterday cooking up some black-eyed peas with a gorgeous ham shank (not hock) and a semi boat-load of greens, collard and mustard (braised in the pea likker). Oh so good and even appreciated by our dinner guests who have resided most of their life in Boston (they weren't exactly sure of what ther were getting for dinner).
As the day progressed, I seem to have drunk a bottle of bubbly and shared two more at dinner. Slept OK, in case you're interested.
Today is cooler here on the Central Florida coast, the low temp was 42º. And, YIKES, two people just jumped into the pool and it ain't heated. It must be one of those "well it's warmer here than it was in Missouri" things.
Peace to all and may the Lord Jesus bless you in His providential way.
Happy New Year, LtFuzz!
