Be safe out there. It looks like the weather is improving, and what's running through my head is a near endless song repeat of just the words, "Born To Be Wild." I don't know the lyrics well enough to do much else. I'm off to YouTube. Maybe I'll follow the tip from Anonymous and end up with a Steppenwolf and Willie Nelson mashup earworm. I never got around to seeing "Easy Rider."
The offer of travel sanctuary if needed still stands.
Highway Song by Blackfoot. On the Road Again by Bob Seger. A little Sousa to lighten the mood. ELO, Jefferson Airplane, Lots of good stuff to choose from.
Be careful out there. Watch out for the volkssturm and those dang Panzerkampfwagen IV's....
Figured you would be playing this song https://youtu.be/_Xs-YrH-h1Y....Yes I will be here all week, try the veal and tip your wait staff ;) Seriously Good travels on picking up household six and safe travels back and dodging the revenuers.
I didn't drive 55 when it was the law, nor did most people on the interstate when I was driving. Though the mighty Datsun B210 could only get up to 65mph without stretching the rubber band too hard or doing permanent damage to the hampsters when flogging them. :)
Beans, a Datsun B210 was the second car I ever wrecked! I do remember driving it way too fast. Fortunately my mom was none the wiser. The crash was not due to speed though just blowing through a stoplight! I was a stupid kid.
What? Considering your previous AF profession, not... "Radar Love" by Golden Earring?
Shocked, shocked I say...
My favorite highway music is either Paul Schwartz's 'Aria' Albums (modern renditions of classical and opera music) or Mandalay or ELO (as long as it's not from the first three albums before Jeff Lynne got control) or, yeah, 3 Dog Night, StepenWolf, Queen, Styx, Estampe...
Estampe is a German group that try to recreate medieval music from pieces that have been recovered. Kind of difficult as modern notation hadn't been invented yet (duh) and so some guessing is required.
Back in the day, having to have to listen to that GD song in the shop over and over and over...
Yes, heartily sick of it. I have a passionate dislike for that tune.
Actually on the road and traveling? Foo Fighters, Beatles, and a bit o' 3 Doors Down (I have their greatest hits on CD). Oddly enough, when I'm in for the long haul, I'll listen to music for about an hour, then switch it all off to hear the sound of the road.
For long range driving the best is Sirius XM radio. That way I can listen to 50's, 60's, 70's, talk, jazz, classical, whatever the mood wants. The mood depends on how tired I am, how slow, or fast, the traffic is, and how much farther it is to "getting there." Glad you got there. Safely!! Enjoy the kids/grandkids, and be safe coming home. We will be here when you get back.
I take it you're not a Willie fan - "On The Road Again" ?
ReplyDeleteFrank
Actually, I was going to go with that one, but the phrase "Headin' down the highway" was stuck in my head, so I went with Steppenwolf.
DeleteThe Blue Beast is getting broken in real good Sarge, watch your six on the road.
ReplyDeleteMade it in one piece, horrid weather, Blue behaved magnificently. Story to come.
DeleteBe safe out there.

Safely recovered at my destination at 1630 local. Weather sucked through most of Maryland.
DeleteArgh!
It's my humble opinion that there are MANY things that suck in Maryland. The weather being one of the least sucky.
DeleteIt is pretty though.

All good choices.
DeleteI kept my wits about me, Volkssturm behaved, no PzKw IVs encountered.

Hahaha!
DeleteGood one!
I can't drive 55!
ReplyDeleteGlad you arrived safely! Enjoy family time!
If you drive 55 on the New Jersey Turnpike, you get run over...
DeleteFast movers!

DeleteThe only people who drive the speed limit these days are always in precisely the wrong lane to be doing that.
DeleteDAMHIK.

DeleteSounds like a good story there Tuna! (Not a hint, just a statement of fact.)
DeleteRight up there with Lex's "Car Roll" story.

I had Sirius for a while a few years back. Kept losing the signal driving up to New Hampshire, so I didn't renew it.
DeleteBut when it worked, it worked well.
